My family and I decided to try the Jurassic Golf & Arcade that just opened up around 2pm, Sunday, November 12, 2017. My family consisted of me, my wife, our 8 year old daughter, and our 5 year old son. All of us we’re excited to play. Check in was quick and easy and cost us $35 to all play mini-golf. The cashier asked if we wanted to keep score, and given our children’s young ages, we decided it was best not to keep score, and the cashier thought that was a good call. The mini-golf was packed since it recently opened, and space was tight, but we were all having a good time. UNTIL, we reached one of the back nine holes that was being watched by a staff member. Up until that time, our children were very excited to get free tickets at one of the prior holes, and this looked to be the case with this hole. I was just finishing up the last hole, and did not hear the instructions from the staff member, a young girl with straight long blond hair. Since we were not keeping score, at times, each of us played a hole through its entirety, and then the next person would go. Well we ended up playing this hole that way, and when we were done, I politely asked the staff girl, who won the tickets. It was then that she told me that she was to judge the closest to the hole, and because we each played through separately, in her opinion, she could not judge who came closest. So she would not give anyone tickets. I told her that we are a young family, not keeping score, and at some holes we played through separately. She told me she could not give me any tickets. At this point I was disappointed with her not providing any of us a few tickets so one of our children could get a piece of candy or some small trinket. I then told her that if she in fact watched us play, she could, “within reason” recall who’s ball was the closest, as it was just the four of us after all, we were not actually competing against each other, and that we were planning on sharing the tickets together and let our children get what they wanted with their free tickets. She again cited the rules, and said that since we did not all play together at this hole, she would not issue tickets. At this point, I was getting frustrated since this is supposed to be a family friendly business, we were spending $35 as a family, not including the drinks or games we played afterwards, and that these five free tickets that she was withholding from us amounted to a tiny plastic green army guy that you would get out of a 25-cent vending machine outside a supermarket. At this point our 5 year old son thought we had done something wrong, and her actions were ruining what should be a good family moment. I implored this fact with her, and she reluctantly provided me with 5 free tickets. It was as if I was trying to draw blood from a stone, for what amounted to be very little financially, but to our children, it is much more than that, getting prizes at their age is a cherished thing, and for her not to see that is truly disappointing. I would highly suggest that all staff members go through some sort of sensitivity training or learn what a family-friendly business is all about.
Of course, when we were done, I overheard the young girl staff member was complaining about me to several others at the cashier stand. If my children were not with me, I would have given the five tickets back to her and tell her she should be a kinder/more understanding person around children. I have never been treated so poorly before at a family friendly establishment, and will be taking our business to other mini golf establishments in the...
Read moreFriendly staff. This is a nice indoor course with difficult obstacles and yet we were able to get a few hole-in-ones to get really excited and move quickly through the course. This course was thrilling without being gory. I still recommend leaving the littles at home or keeping them in the arcade area if you’re up for that because towering dinosaurs over a say 3’ child, in the dark and loud unfamiliar sounds is scary. As far as our specific experience, it was a rainy day so decided to try glowing golf again despite previous experience elsewhere. We thought the dinosaurs were not gory so we gave it a try. Boys are 4 & 8. The sound affects were too much this time in addition to the dark. At the beginning of the 2nd hole they said it was too scary and wanted to leave. I shined my phone light on the speakers so they could see where the sound originated and explored the MDF 2D statues and 3D dinosaurs. At this point it was still a no go and we went back to the front desk to get a refund and maybe play games. Since it was late on Saturday I asked if anyone else was in the course, would it be possible to turn the lights on and the sound off. The guy checked with the other guy and he said yes! However, they could only turn the regular ceiling lights on but not turn off the black light and sound affects. The one guy offered a flashlight as well and walk us around a little bit. I’m so glad I asked and we were able to have fun. I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t have happened earlier in the day considering other patrons but, very happy with the staff for...
Read moreThis is THE place to go if you have a party to host or are just looking to have a fun time! We had my son's 5th birthday party here and I can't think of enough words to describe how amazing the experience was. Booking the location was a breeze. Communication was clear and questions were answered quickly. The owner was willing to accommodate our requests outside of their normal offerings. On the day of the party we were greeted with warmth and assisted with getting the party items set up. You get a dedicated party staff that goes above and beyond. They help with EVERYTHING! They put up decorations, set up the food, and even serve the guests when it was time. I was blown away when they started playing games with the party guests and handled the transitions between activities for us. No child was ever bored or cried.
The establishment is very clean and well maintained. There are plenty of games to play and ones that ensure you win a prize. That is a really nice touch for the little ones. The mini golf is super cool. It really does glow and was fun even for the adults in the group.
I have to say though that the staff really is what makes this place so special. They kept an eye on my son and played with him during the entire event. They never seemed annoyed or unwilling to help. It was really very heart warming to see how much the staff and owner really cared and enjoyed what they do. I highly recommend this place and my son and I can't wait to...
