Smoothies are great. But the store is laid out in a manor that can be confusing for customers to walk into. Signs should be posted or something. Also food takes a considerable amount of time to come out. We ordered 3 smoothies (all the same kind) and 2 meals. The smoothies only took a few mins but the food took over 25 min. Multiple other customers were complaining loudly while we waited for our food. It’s not cool as a guest to have to view multiple other upset customers whose needs aren’t being met as you yourself are about to encounter the same experience.
I asked to speak to the manager. I told him I have 12 years restaurant experience and gave him my information and a note. He basically blamed the problem on the fact that they have online ordering and that people customize their food. Well... for one thing I don’t think a business should offer online ordering if it can’t keep up with customer demand. Another thing is people customize orders for a lot of reasons from allergy to taste. If you don’t plan on allowing substitutions notify customers ahead of time, have a sign. But if you do allow substitutions you have to give them then and shouldn’t use that as an excuse. Yes the orders take more time but if your food is “made to order” and “fresh” it shouldn’t be a problem.
When I spoke to the manager Iexpressed this kindly and he gave me the above excuses. I told him my only true complaint was that my order is Togo and two of the smoothies were not for me. Like I said the smoothies have been now melting for over 20 mins before the food was ready. I was Hoping that he would make me two fresh smoothies (I would have gladly given the two untouched melted ones back) but he didn’t offer to do anything. I used to eat at tropical smoothie in virgina beach all the time and never waited for more than ten min from ordering to receiving my food.
Honestly the smoothies are great. Foods alright. Service is lackluster and most are high school kids lacking any personality or the ability to operate a cash register. I watched the same manager have to come help the girl behind the counter with every other order almost. Properly training employees before throwing them into the shuffle is important! I am certain these kids would be happier and better capable of dealing with angry customers if they were properly trained. I watched a lady tell the girl behind the cash register “I hope you are fired” now while I think that is harsh and would never say that if the girl had helped the lady by giving her a time frame or anything other than a blank stare she wouldn’t have gotten such a rude comment.
Good luck to tropical smoothie. Since we can’t get food quick (this is our third time coming and the food has taken way too long I’m our opinion to wait for) we will go back to smoothie king and just...
Read moreThis place is the worst tropical smoothie you could ever go to. Their fruit is all soggy and absolutely disgusting. They have flies flying around inside that’s landing on all the food that they’re making they do nothing about it they throw the wraps together. Let’s talk about the service, there’s two girls in there that have been there for a while and they are nice other than that everybody’s rude ignorant and they move like a sloth. My order is very simple. They’ll make it and leave it Sit there while they make three other orders so they can hand them all out at once. It’s absolutely ridiculous . I used to come to this one a lot and it used to be taken care of. However, a lot of the staff has changed it’s not taking care of anymore. The first thing that turned me off was when I was a daily customer. I came in there with a $50 bill and they refused to take it knowing that I was in there every day and if there was an issue with that $50 bill I’d be in there the next day on my way to work, but would they take it so after that I stopped going to this one and started going to the one near my work which I’m glad I did because the strawberries are fresh. The blueberries are delicious and the bananas aren’t brown so it’s great. The days I don’t work sometimes I’ll still go into this tropical smoothie in Belair and boy what a mistake that is don’t do it. I always regret it It is the worst tropical smoothie you can ever go to , the same owners in the one in Riverside however, staff makes the difference haven’t been to that one too often only once so I can’t speak for that one but the Belair one stay out of it find a different tropical smoothie that takes care of the store and the food. The one in Perry Hall has great...

But the second day I went they were having 1.99 smoothies. I was unaware of this. But I got talking to whom I believe is the owner who is a man. He tells me all about the specials. Then he states they are having all day 1.99 smoothies. Then I realize I just paid over 10$ for 2 smoothies. So I ask the cashier about it and she gets who I assume is the other owner who is a woman. She looks at my receipt and instead of offering a refund of what I was over charged she says do you want a free smoothie. I said that is fine because I am about to buy one for my husband, but I think that isn’t going to cover the remaining amount I was overcharged. So I say that and she laughs at me and says, your not understanding. I am giving you a 5$ smoothie for free and I respond with, but if I bought 3 smoothies today I would only pay 6$. She didn’t get it and said just give her a smoothie for free. So instead of arguing I just took it and left. So I should have paid 6$ and instead I walked away paying 10$. It really was a frustrating experience and in my opinion a very unprofessional way to handle...
