Monster Dogs — Local services in Bellevue

Today was finally the day… After 2 months of anticipation and following, I finally made it down to Monster Dogs, LLC. We ordered quite the combo following suit with Fooligan Eats. Not only to appease our pallets but to show overwhelming #support to local business. Order as follows. 2 Chicago Dog Jalapeno popper dog German dog BBQ Bacon Mac dog. & and order of BBQ Bacon mac on the side as well as plain mac(not pictured). Look… The Omaha Metropolitan area has a small family absolutely re-writing the script of the Hot Dog food service industry. Hands down. You can find them hangin out at Harlan Dr. & Galvin Rd. In Bellevue at the O'Reilly Auto Parts back parking lot. Sincere and friendly. So happy to see you and serve you. Supremely estatic about thier work, commited, professional. As someone who grew up with roots to Chicagoland I have to start there. The Chicago dog is unique, featuring pablano peppers instead of traditional “sport” peppers traditionally used on Chi-dogs, they pair very well with the larger cuts of tomato used and the “soft as a cloud” poppy seed bun. By far in the top 3 Chicago dogs I have had in the Omaha area. (Will it make #1? You guys will find out in a later post I have been working on. 😉).

Next is the Jalapeno Popper dog. Blew my mind. Better off getting this than just traditional Jalapeno poppers any day. Rich cream cheese, fresh (not pickles) jalapeno. Robust cheddar. That BUN. Where do they get them?! Cloud 9?! Wow.. Amazing.

Then we move on to thier staple Flamin’ hot mac & cheese dog. So simple but complex it would have a stoner and your grandma smiling at the same table together. The cheetos don’t get soggy from the cheese because the cheese in not runny, it’s rich! Again with the bun!! The Jalapenos too! Perfect mix!

Moving on to the BBQ Bacon Mac dog / Mac n cheese side. Is that thick cut applewood bacon?! On my momma…. So sweet from the BBQ sauce but so savory/salty from the mac and the bacon… couldnt finish the whole thing. Its a dinner, not a snack. Skips dad’s birthday at the steakhouse, just get him one of those bad boys.

Lastly the German dog. Omaha has a very large and influential German/Polish/Central European population and with it an influential culture. Heck, we invented the Reuben for Christ sake! Lets not get ahead of ourselves… Though not a traditional “snappy” Polish dog, and the same dog used on the others. (Very good dog choice they told me what it is but I keep secrets.) it is unique… the mustard pairs well with the kraut. The dog and the bun make a great foundation for a blanket of flavor. I can’t say the kraut on its own would be something to write home about. I’ll be honest. It just goes well enough with the pairing to make a German miss Oktoberfest and want to use 370 like the Autobahn to get another.

Before I digress… I will say it again. THE BUNS ARE CRAZY?! HOW DO THEY HOLD SO MUCH SO WELL?! No soggyness, no mess…ALL FLAVOR! So worth the money & the drive!!

Where's the 6th star for this place? Seriously! I never get photos because I inhale it. So I'll paint you a word picture.

The cheesy bacon fries are just plain dynamite. The fries themselves are simple and straightforward. The cheese sauce is ooey gooey goodness. But the bacon is smoky and showcased in a way that I don't offer see. It stands out on a dish in which it could easily get lost. You get a giant portion that we couldn't finish as a family.

They were running a limited time special with pulled pork today. It was excellent. Just enough sauce to not need any added but not so much to be a mess. It was tender and finely shredded but also had those wonderful crispy little ends.

The sandwich came in a large styrofoam container that had nearly every free cubic inch packed with plain, salted fries. Be still my frugal heart!

My coleslaw was chunky, creamy, sweet, and sour in all the right ways. I love the big pieces of cabbage (not like others who pretty much pulverize it). It was fresh and crunchy, and there was just enough celery seed to give it a voice of its own.

The burgers - chili dogs - everything is just really well balanced. Besides the monster portions. It's extra impressive given how new this place is.

And by the way, it's so refreshing to call an order ahead and have a quick, clear, and simple interaction. And no mistakes or surprises on the order when we got it home - what a concept!

Delicious hot dogs and chili cheese fries! Hot dogs are generously sized with fresh ingredients on top. I got the Chicago dog and not only did it look asthetically pleasing but it tasted just as good as it looked. My husband got the mac n cheese dog and it was also a hit. Also, I'm extremely picky when it comes to chili cheese fries (I'm almost always disappointed when I order them elsewhere) and I was impressed with how good they were, the chili is made from scratch and you can tell. Would recommend to any hot dog or chili cheese fry lover. Can't wait to try the other hot dogs and bacon...
