Hannaford — Local services in Bennington

This is my favorite grocery store in Bennington. It doesn't have the best prices. The store brands are not great. There is no sushi bar or in house eatery. What you do get is slightly wider aisles, less clutter, fewer people and a much more laid back atmosphere. The store is very clean. There is a great selection of slightly higher end as well as locally produced products. Service is great. The layout is more open, well lit and traditional. This store caters to those who will pay a little more for a relaxed, dignified shopping experience. You want to run in and grab a couple items without having to dodge through the teeming masses? Hannaford. You want to saunter leisurely through the aisles and nod politely to your fellow shoppers while you do your weekly shopping? Hannaford. Very disappointed in deli counter staff. Older gentlemen feels he must make silly or inane comments about each selection, then actually argues with me when I ask for it sliced the way I request. "Charlie" is disinterested & downright rude. Fully aware I was waiting , he re-arranged & rearranged again meats along rear wall, completely ignoring me until I spoke up. Though I enjoy Hannaford's selections, I've begun going to other supermarkets to get my deli orders and have never had any problems such as the above two examples. Ordered a $43 dollar bday cake 26 hrs before bday party. They took our cake order and said pick it up between 3pm thru 6 pm today. No cake made. Went there at 430 to pick up the Carolina Panthers cake that we were promised. You can't make it then don't take the order period. Thanks for 2 free cakes and $25 gift card.
