The Art House, tucked away behind a big silver gate on Shattuck Ave. is a bit of a surprise. Covered in artwork with psychedelic drawings and posters, as well as, a table lined with lava lamps, the converted barn now music/art venue transports you to a time and place of "make love, not war." The owner & staff of the venue are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable from the moment you enter the door.

Peter Lewis from the band Moby Grape & his daughter (my niece) Arwen Lewis put together a magical night where they included several talented members of the family to perform including a beautiful and soothing harp performance, a stand-up base player and an a cappella duet. A mind bending light show accompanied the performance and provided the backdrop to the stage. At times I was transfixed by the lights and sounds of the show. My classic rock band threw a party and potluck for about 75 here. It's got the coolest vibe, and totally inviting. Harold is a very cool dude, very supportive, and has a great PA with two large floor monitors, so all you have to do is bring your guitars, drums, amps, and any favorite mics, stands/cables, and maybe an extra small monitor or two if its a large band. etc. He has chairs for at least 75, and space left to mingle and dance. Plenty of folding tables available for food, etc. He added a cool psychedelic projection show to our act, which really helped it all come together. Plan on doing the set-up and sound mixing yourself. The Art House is a wonderful venue for events. It’s great for a birthday party, an intimate musical performance, a book reading, or fund raising event, to name a few. The colorful 1960’s artwork and black light posters are really fun! It has a large open room with a nice high ceiling and skylights that feels very spacious as well as an excellent sound system, projector, piano and more. Mic stands and microphones are all there.
