Reasonable prices (1st timer is only $20!) Super friendly helpful staff who are available by phone or text! Clean & sanitary saunas. They clean after every use. TV (Samsung) for visuals & sound. Sound plays inside the cabin. Forest creek (water & birds) & binaural healing beats are my favorite, but sometimes I enjoy stretching instruction or listening to a health podcast on YouTube. Yes, you control the TV! Large enough to stretch out & lay down on the bench. I'm 5'2" & lay down to take pressure off my spine & to stretch. Different lighting options! I turn off the overhead room light, the outer & inner unit light, & the chroma-therapy light & leave only the red-light therapy light on. 3 towels (floor, body, hand towel rolled up) PLUS a cold, wet, eucalyptus washcloth to refresh yourself at the end! The aromatherapy washcloth is the BEST!! Time slots available from 7am to 8pm except Sunday they close a little earlier, 6pm i think. Parking free on side streets & after 6pm in front at the meters. USB to charge your phone inside the sauna Bring your own water bottle & fill up before & after. Or just buy a bottle there. You definitely need to come hydrated! I drink 24oz before I go in & after I leave. Best to wear loose fitting clothes or sweats as your skin will be emitting moisture ... but don't let your clothes stop you from coming in! Clean your face of makeup so your pores can sweat freely.
I have long, thick curly hair & it does nap up at the roots because I'm sweating at the scalp. It's a sacrifice I make for better health & I just have to plan for it. So I go in before wash days, I try using a neck fan around my hairline while im in (helps but doesn't prevent the kinks), & Ideally I'm wearing braids.
Also, be aware ... there are no showers, but there is a bathroom. You have to dump all your towels in the bin before you leave. You can lock the door to your room so it's safe & private. No robes.. you don't need it. Floor is cool & you'll appreciate that when you get out. No accessible electric outlets in your room.
Infrared is so good for you! I leave feeling EXTREMELY relaxed, blood pressure lowered, increased circulation makes me feel alive & youthful (bye toxins, hello natural glow), resets my circadian rhythm (for hormonal balancing) & helps engage my parasympathetic nervous system (to reduce inflammation) . ...& it registers as a "moderate" activity on my Fitbit! I actually have fewer hot flashes when i go regularly. I aim for 3x per week for the most benefits but usually go 1-2 times. It's definitely a part of my health & wellness routine.
Hope this review helps 🙏🏼 🙂 🧘🏽♀️🕊 Cheers to...
Read moreI've truly enjoyed my time as a member at Perspire Sauna, and it's become a wonderful part of my wellness routine. The sheer relaxation I feel during each session is fantastic – it’s such a great way to unwind and de-stress. I also really appreciate the variety of entertainment options available; having the ability to catch up on shows or listen to podcasts makes the time fly by. The facility itself is always well-maintained and has a very pleasant atmosphere, and every member of the staff I've encountered has been consistently polite and welcoming. Plus, the ability to customize the sauna settings is a real plus, allowing me to tailor each session to exactly what I need. Finally, the process of booking appointments is always quick and hassle-free.
While there's so much I appreciate about Perspire, there are a couple of areas where I think the experience could be even better. Although I love the customization of the sauna settings, I've noticed that on more occasions than I'd prefer, the settings haven't been correctly set upon my arrival, requiring me to adjust them at the start of my session. It would be incredibly convenient to have a way to save preferred settings, perhaps through the app or a similar system, rather than having to communicate them to the front desk each time. Additionally, it would be very helpful to have an easier way to track the number of sessions used to ensure I'm maximizing my membership benefits and not accidentally over-scheduling. Lastly, while I understand the initial explanation about not having a shower due to continued sweating post-infrared session, seeing showers at other Perspire locations on social media makes the absence here a bit disappointing. Having the option to rinse off after a session would definitely enhance the overall experience for me.
Despite these points for improvement, I want to reiterate how much I value my membership at Perspire Sauna. The numerous benefits, from the deep relaxation to the enjoyable entertainment options and the overall positive atmosphere, keep me coming back. I genuinely look forward to continuing my sessions and hope that some of this feedback can be considered to make an already great service...
Read moreSunlighten saunas is the leading brand name (made in the U.S.A.) in the far infrared sauna industry that they use at Perspire Sauna Studios. Two person saunas are in each room, with bench space wide enough to lay down and watch tv. Also offered is filtered water and I love the eucalyptus towels for use at the end of a session. There are tv's in the rooms with remotes you can bring into the sauna . The tv settings can be preselected and entered into the computer system by staff to be ready before your next visit. I like to have Samsung TV News and Opinions, so I'm not anxious for the timer to reach 00. I sometimes read large print paperback books in the sauna too. If you are even thinking about it several times a week, an unlimited membership makes it more affordable.
The temperature you want (I request the max. temp. of 170 F degrees) can be preset before you get into the sauna so you don't have to wait for preheating. Perspire is located across the street from the epic Equinox gym and a 15 minute walk from Ashby BART station. The Perspire 2.0 app lets you book appointment times to fit conveniently into your schedule. I previously had great results with a sauna membership in Marin.
On YouTube Steven Gundry of Palm Springs has a 9 minute in depth explanation |This is what what far infrared sauna does for the body| including enhanced mitochondrial activity and sauna can raise blood flow from 5 to 7 liters per minute to 13 liters per minute, effectively a passive cardio workout. I look forward to my sauna treatments everyday. I also tried a product called Sweet Sweat which is used by bodybuilders and boxers to reduce water weight, it opens sweat glands. I notice that I start sweating within 3 minutes of being in the sauna rather taking 15 minutes to perspire. The sauna and red light therapy inside the sauna can also activate hair regrowth. I am noticing better digestion and I feel like my skin and muscles are more toned, especially on my face. I think there should be more published scientific studies on the numerous health benefits of far...
