Danny Mertz — Local services in Berlin

I rounded up to 3 stars. I would give their merchandise and prices 5 stars because there are great deals. Their customer service is zero stars.. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and I'd like to make an honest appeal to the owner/manager to update their signage regarding the credit card minimum. There are plenty of signs near the register letting you know the minimum (in fact I think he numbers them so you know there are at least ten, all at the cash register). However, the signs are mean and inappropriate. All handwritten . For years there was a sign that said "$10 minimum on credit cards NOW PRETEND LIKE YOU DIDN'T JUST SEE THAT!". The ten handwritten signs they have now are almost equally as negative and unprofessional. I don't see why there has to be this kind of negativity in the world . This store is catering to us working class folks but I feel like we deserve a little more respect than that kind of condescending verbage. It's not necessary and honestly makes the owner look like a rude and ungrateful proprietor. I was just shopping there today, and I heard a lot of people speaking Spanish and other languages. Yet all their meanly worded signs are only in English. They are also (as far as I can see) only at the registers. It's reasonable to believe someone shopping may not see these until it's basically too late and they are at the register. In summary, just because we may be poor and in need of good deals doesn't mean we don't deserve respect, this is just the wrong way to...

I've been a fan of Danny Mertz & all of the fine, friendly, helpful & humorous folks who work at the store since 1997 (& dearly miss Kenny, may he be resting in peace & helping folks up in Heaven, even still...) when we moved to Southern NJ. The beauty of this store is that they carry brand name items, with continually rotating stock, & assorted things that are perfect for gifts that won't break the bank for those with limited budgets. It's never a safe bet to wait until next week to buy something you want as many people know about this little treasure trove hidden in the Berlin Farmer's Market, so my advice to others is, if you see it & want it, buy it! I love that they offer a lot of my favorite perfumes (as well as men's colognes) for very reasonable pricing. If you are in need of gifts, household items & cleaning supplies, health/beauty aids & assorted seasonal decorations but don't have a lot of money to afford them; go check out Danny Mertz & see why so many people absolutely love this...

Been going here for decades, products and prices are great. Good deals on many household items. I agree with other reviews, customer service needs to improve, store staff is short and have no problem snapping...
