Dewy Meadow Village Mall — Local services in Bernards Township

When this shopping center originally opened it was great. It was beautiful & had a good choice of stores. I would drive across town just to go to the A & P. Most of the time when I would go to the A & P I would end up in at least one of the other stores. Since the A & P closed, the shopping center has taken a nosedive. The management company was never able to get another anchor store to replace the A & P, so the building has been torn down. I believe it’s now being replaced with low income housing units. I drove in today after many months and was shocked at what I saw. There are so many vacant stores. The entire shopping center needs to be painted. There are shutters hanging off some of the windows. The sidewalks are broken & many have sunk. The lighting is a mess. Much of the landscaping needs to be trimmed or replaced. It’s a MESS! It certainly has a weird vibe & I will never ever go back. It’s sad because I really enjoyed going there when it was run properly. The management company should be ashamed of themselves. Since losing A&P and no other Supermarket taking its place, Dewy Meadow Village has become much less significant in its utility to serve the community. The biggest draw and most useful place is Dunkin Donuts. And I would estimate that 50% or more of its business is from out of the area. I. E. Travelers, people off to work etc etc. The Pizzeria & Restaurant are long-standing, good quality food but let's face it how often are you going out to eat? Unless you have a ton of disposable income. The liquor store serves a need as well but without a food market of some type dewy meadow is mostly useless. While it's a nice mall, property management failed to take care a lot of things. The turtarrier (concrete blocks at the back of parking space) in front of Burger Que was flipped and wasn't fixed. I did not notice this, when I back out of parking space, the metal part teared my tire. I've been calling the management and leaving several messages but no respond whatsoever.
