California Tacos Company — Local services in Big Bear Lake

Edited to say, I never write nasty reviews on anyone’s company. Especially small businesses. And I’m sure the owners are good, hardworking people. That being said, This was one of the WORST experiences I’ve ever had dealing with a catering company. This was for my 30th birthday party.. They not only showed up 2.5 hours late but they also requested that we move our canopy to accommodate them because they “forgot” theirs and didn’t want to stand in the heat. The carne asada tasted like rubber everyone was disappointed. They offered quesadillas but only used mini corn tortillas. The hot dogs they offered for the children were mini weenies not one child liked them. They charged $575 for 2 hours and didn’t take off any money to rectify them being 2.5 hours late. They only offered an hour of later service and most of my guests had left by then. The Aqua Fresca’s were only 30 percent filled. They looked extremely unsanitary. Extremely unprofessional!!!

I had booked them a month in advance and Joshua called me the night before to let me know he was going to be almost two hours late. It meant my guest would not be eating until three hours later at about 8:00 p.m.. He said he would refund my deposit as a "favor " if that time was "inconvenient" and I could call someone else to cater, seriously was he expecting to keep a deposit for services not rendered? Was I supposed to find a new caterer in less than 24 hrs? Needless to say I asked him not to bother showing up and ended up cooking myself.

Wish I would have done my research more before booking this company. I hired them for my engagement party and it was a HUGE mistake. They showed up 2 hours late with very very cold food the guest threw everything away food was also so nasty. And when I tried to contact the owner he didn’t reply and blocked my number.
