Always great desserts here, but don't bring Canadian cash... They don't take it any more. Canadian credit cards work though, but don't count on tap because they won't use it if they can avoid it. The new owners are cheaping out on debit/credit fees. But still the same c-shop treats you know and love.
Edit: I've been informed ownership hasn't changed... So there may be some. Work the owners need to do to inform the locals of that, because I heard from more than just a few it was new owners.
As for debit machines, why use two different systems? Train up on one and be done? I can understand the no foreign cash policy, but I can promise you that nearly anywhere you go in the entirety of Canada we will accommodate American money. Sure, you aren't a bank. But lots of gas stations all around you seem to manage just fine. There are a boat load of Canadian visiters, and owners, in Birch Bay (of which I am 1), something like accepting Canadian cash with a very clear exchange rate posted would simplify the process and help people just on a day trip be encouraged to spend...
Read moreI have been going to the C shop my whole life the side where you can buy candy is great. Great service the chocolate is to dye for and snow cones are great! But today for the first time ever I tried eating on the cafe side. The service was horrible the girls where very slow and acted like the customers where bothersome. My husband and I played 30 dollars for 2 cheese steak sandwiches and pops. We waited 30 mins when our sandwiches finally got to us they were soggy and the side of my bun sluffed off the meat tasted so sour and spoiled I couldn't even finish it. The reason I gave the C shop any stars at all is it's saving grace the candy shop side which I do recommend but like I said the cafe will not get our...
Read moreMy wife and I went on 6/20/2021 just when they opened at 1:00. We ordered salted caramel ice cream cones. The good. The ice cream was excellent. The bad. 1. After paying over $3 for an ice cream cone, the serving was about the size of a golf ball and literally fit inside the cone. 2. The ice cream was so soft if was melting and running down the outside of the cone within 30 seconds of being served. 3. An informational sign fell off the counter and into a tub of ice cream. The person scooping the ice cream simply picked it up and put it right back on the counter and kept scooping. (There has to be a health violation there somewhere.) Overall, it just seemed very expensive, a little chaotic and...
