We were locked in our room all night. Guess management told other guests we were drunk and unruly because we were quite the topic of conversation as we overheard other guests talking about us in the elevator that we were SO drunk we couldn't get out of our locked room. We didn't bother to correct them that if management thinks you drink too much they lock you in your room all night or whatever their reason was then refuse to refund your money when you have to cram in 2 other rooms when you paid for 3 rooms but the lock just couldn't be fixed that night and you can't stay in a room without a door handle. By the way about 12:30am I got tired of all of us being locked in 1 room so I personally had to take the door handle off from the INSIDE after having them send the tools under the door, and I JUST had surgery so I only had 1 arm and hand and I had the flu which is why I wanted out to go to bed. We were promised a comped night. When we called to get it management was all confused because they don't think they owe us anything because we were "drunk" more than 1/2 of our party didn't drink. And some ended up getting sick. Not the bottle flu! I will take this up with corporate but don't suggest staying here unless you want to be humiliated and embarrassed for no reason. We are staying there again to get answers but I am taking my tool box with me and keeping it with me at all times this time! AND they might see what drunks do when (they really are drunk) if that's the label they want...
Read moreVery nice place. It was my first time visiting. Check-in is a bit much. They have 2-3 different stations you have to visit in order to check-in. The units are very nice and spacious on the inside. However I'm dissatisfied with the number of towels they provide you with. You cannot call to request more towels, you must go down to the first floor and EXCHANGE your towels. You have to dump your own garbage before checking out or pay an extra fee for housekeeping. There are no garbage chutes so you must locate the dumpster on the north end of the resort. They have a washer and dryer in each unit. They provide laundry detergent but the packages were already opened and used in my condo. They have smoke detectors too close to the kitchen so the smallest thing will set it off. Opening the over door to check the food set it off and there was no smokiness or anything to make it go off.
During our stay, we had to evacuate because of an issue and the fire department had to come out. The staff handled this situation very calmly and got all residents out safely. We didn't have to stay outside very long.
Overall I would...
Read moreWe stayed here about 15 years ago and the units were renovated within the last couple years or so per the front desk person checking us in. We had a large 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit but ours was by the stairs and above the pool. It was really loud while the pool was was in use and stairs were used all hours. If we stayed here again, we will be sure to ask for a room not near the stairs or pool. All amenities you may need are in this unit, even a washer and dryer. Everything looks really nice. The master bath is a bit cramped but the other bathroom has a little more room. Seems like all units have a view of the ocean. This property will ask you to take out your garbage and recycling when you leave.
The people who stayed here talked about the food at the local restaurants not being very good. We bought groceries at the Birch Bay Market off the freeway and made some meals in our unit. Otherwise, we traveled to Canada and ate at the restaurants we know and like.
We will stay here again the next time we will...
