Purchased a pair of shoes for my niece for prom. She decided on a different pair, so returned this pair. Came in back by the salon and found the old return desk gone. Don't shop in JC Penny's very often! Went on into the store and their was an associate right there in the children's clothes. Quickly completed my return and chit chatted with the associate about the changes made to the store. Very nice woman. She directed me to the shower curtains, which I had asked where they were located. Bathroom item selection rather poor. Plenty of towels, but almost no shower curtains. Vinyl ones only pretty much. And many of the racks and shelves a total mess! Kids shoes were on a cheap, metal rack, stuffed next to the associate's station. They were all pawed thru and a mess. My initial trip to look at the adult shoes, I came in from the mall and went right to the shoes. Again, several cheap, metal racks with shoe boxes all a mess, picked thru. The actual shoe display shelves were fine, but one corner had a pile of shoes and boxes all over the floor. The dress shoes I looked at were not stacked and sorted well. I had to look at the shoe itself to find the name, then look thru the boxes below to get the correct shoe. They were not stacked below the display shoe in any order. Sizes were all mixed as well. I would expect this from Payless, but not JC Penny's, where I'm paying $40+ for a pair of dress shoes on SALE! Shoe Depot Encore in the mall was so much tidier and the shoes cheaper. I can see why Penny's is struggling! Oh, and plan to wait in a decent length of line at Penny's too. Seems they only have one associate per desk, and maybe 3 desks in the store. Never would think Penny's would need those "Line Starts Here" signs, but yep. As bad as Kohl's as far as terrible wait times to check out. And they wonder why Amazon is closing them down. Hmmmm.
Update: was in back in October looking at summer clearance for a trip to Florida. Had scads of homecoming/prom dresses and other formal dresses. Had loads of summer sun dresses on "kinda" sale. They were not the best quality. Store smelled...
Read moreAfter not finding my size in a style of dress I wanted for my grandson's wedding, I asked Brenda, of the Jackson, MI store if she could order online for me, which she did. The problem? She entered the wrong phone number which I didn't see until I arrived home. I tried calling the store but couldn't get anyone to answer. SO I drove to the store, speaking to a manager (Shelly or Sherry) who was nice but explained they would tag my name on the other woman's order and I could call the next day to see if the shipment had arrived and they were going to tag my name on the dress. I called the next afternoon and couldn't get through ... AGAIN ... so I drove to the store again, calling from the parking lot. I entered the salon's extension, per the manager, who said she would connect me. The phone rang for a very long time and finally I was disconnected. Meanwhile, I had NO assurance that I would be contacted on the arrival of the dress and was told I would have to drive to the store for the 3rd time to cancel the order with my credit card.Hannah was very nice and tried to help but her...
Read moreWent there today to buy a dishwasher and a refrigerator. The sign on the door said "Take an additional 50% off ticketed clearance price". Did not have any stipulations. Found a refrigerator that was on clearance that we wanted and inquired to purchase it. Was told, "sorry, that doesn't apply to appliances". I asked to speak to a manager who came and told me the same thing, "it does not apply to appliances. Only for clothing". I showed her the picture of the sign on the door that I had and it didn't show any stipulations that it was "only for clothing" and that I wanted the clearance refrigerator with the 50% discount as advertised on their sign on the door. She refused and said "I'm sorry, I can't honor that since it is only for clothing". I turned around and walked out and said "you missed out on a sale". Went to Sears and bought a new dishwasher and refrigerator. On a side note, their salesperson was not even able to answer our questions about the dishwasher as far as how to adjust the adjustable rack. This is the last time I will ever go...
