La Catrina Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Blackman Charter Township

Excellent Mexican restaurant for the whole family that's family owned and run. We've eaten there 3 times so far and each time the food was served hot, beautifully presented, and tasted great. The portions are beyond generous and we asked for boxes to take the remainder of our meals home every time we ate there. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated and there are TVs showing sports channels. There are both tables and booths available for your seating and the tables were built by the owners themselves. The location can be a little hard to spot. If you pass their sign on Ganson you've missed the restaurant and need to turn around and go back. We were seated immediately the first 2 times we ate there, and had a short wait when we ate there on Friday, Cinco de Mayo. After a morning of shopping Jackson I found this place while randomly searching for a restaurant. The interior decorations and tables design/finishes are fantastic! There was plenty of televisions and what looked like a stage.

We got the house salsa with the chips to start which had fantastic flavor while not being overbearing with heat. I did ask if they had any additional salsa which they brought a tomatillo based salsa which did have more heat and a very unique taste!

The lunch portions were generous in size while also being reasonably priced. I even had enough to save for an additional meal. The food itself matched what I expected as being of more authentic in nature and had phenomenal flavor. I especially enjoyed their guacamole!

First time checking this place out and the food was really good. I ordered the chorizo con huevos and they were delicious. The beans had good flavor and so did the rice. However the rice was a little dry. The portion sizes were large and overall it was a satisfying meal. My girlfriend ordered the combination plate with a chicken enchilada and chicken taco and she said it might be the best tasting Mexican food she's had in Jackson (our options are sorta limited in that regard) 👍 up on the food. The service was okay, the waiter was very friendly, but we're ordered an appetizer of elote , and the waiter forgot and sat down to eat his own lunch before remembering that he didn't bring us our appetizer. Normally I don't think this would matter but we were the only people in the restaurant...
