Shawn approached me not soon after I walked in as I appeared unsure where to go. I told him I was looking for a specific chair and he took me right to them. The chair was exactly what I was looking for and felt even better when I sat down. My only question was which of two colors I wanted.
I then told him I was also looking for a new sofa and he suggested a contrasting look might be nice. After seeing nothing I really loved within my price range he suggested we look in the Clearance Center. I found two sofas (both with a great sale price). After sitting in both it was clear which I preferred and then selected the color of my chair.
Financing only took a short time (also very friendly, knowledge and down to earth staff) and we were in business. I have never been so happy with a furniture store salesman. He answered all my questions and made recommendations without hovering and being pushy as many others are.
I would strongly suggest Vermulens when looking for new furniture as they have a great variety, a vast array of material options and furniture to fit many budgets. I will absolutely shop there again.
UPDATE: Furniture was delivered 4 days ago and to my great dismay the rocking reclining swivel barrel chair I've been looking for 2 years for exacerbates my back and hip and the sofa was too short. My fault as I didn't lay on it to see if it fit. Called to see what could be done and there was.
Went to see Shawn at the store today and was able to find a beautiful sofa and coordinating rocker recliner that will more than fit my needs and the best news is they're available for delivery next Friday when they'll do the exchange. The 10 year fabric protection was transferred to the new furniture. Shawn was with another customer but kept checking to see how I was doing. Other staff were just as helpful answering questions, getting me water, etc when asked with no hovering. AGAIN, I highly recommend this store, the excellent staff, variety of items and fabrics available. Well...

My elderly mother purchased a love seat that cost over $1,000. Less than 2 months after the purchase, my mom called to return it because it didnât sit right, they picked it up and took it back to the store to fix it. That didnât work so she called again, they picked it up and took it back again & it still didnât work. She called again and they sent someone out to put a foam type of material under the cushions and that still didnât correct the problem. After 6 months of getting the run around with a defective couch, my mom asked for a refund. They refused to refund her money because now, âtoo much time had gone by.â My parents had no choice but to keep it because living on social security they simply canât afford to buy another one.
During the global pandemic my husband and I were quarantined to their home and experienced the pure misery of the $1,000+ love seat. My mom did what she was supposed to, she purchased âtop qualityâ furniture from whatâs supposed to be a âreputableâ store, she made them aware of the problem in a timely manner, allowed them to attempt to fix it 3 times, then asked for her money back and your company refused to back your product.
I spoke to Trish and they waived the $79 service call to have it looked at and offered to charge $150 to have it picked up and reworked. Lol! Seriously? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. I asked for a credit to be applied toward a new couch, Trish spoke to the owner and he refused.
Shame on you for taking advantage of my elderly parents. We WILL return this loveseat to your sidewalk with a sign so your customers can see the poor quality furniture you sell and understand that you simply donât stand behind your product.
Ashley Furniture has great products, better pricing and hands down...

My boyfriend purchased two large-ticket items (a mattress set and La-Z-Boy chair) in November of 2014 and paid in full at the time of sale. He chose Vermeulen's because the first sales person he talked to was helpful but not pushy, and the prices weren't outrageous compared to some other furniture stores.
He was notified that he would be contacted within a week or two to schedule delivery. By December, we hadn't heard from them, so we called. The bed was waiting at the store but they were waiting for the full order to come in and the La-Z-Boy was on back order (news we likely would not have received if we hadn't called them). They said they could deliver the bed for now and the chair later, once it came in. By January, we still had not heard back from them about the chair. We called again, and they said it was still on back order but they had (conveniently) just received one to the store for "stock." They arranged to deliver the chair that weekend.
We were very disappointed in the lack of communication from the store -- and the fact that both times we had to call to prompt action. The people we talked to on the phone did not take personal responsibility for the delay, and when we expressed frustration, we were not directed to a manager or someone who could address our concerns.
I gave them a "3" instead of a "2" as we are now happy with the products. They certainly deserve a "2" for customer...
