IGA Market Blaine — Local services in Blaine

I live in Blaine but I will drive to ferndale or even Bellingham to get groceries. Thank God edelene dairy is in town at least fresh milk bread and cheese is not a 30 mile round trip anymore. This grocery store should be closed down asap! Had to go there for some bread late last night needless to say I left disgusted! Bread looked like it had been on the shelves for 3 weeks already and what they had a coupon for was out of stock. Place is gross and filthy! I looked around the freezers at the freezer burned meat wondering who would buy this garbage at double the money you can buy it 10 min down the road? Question to the manager there, are you retarded? What is the matter with you sir? How are you still in business or at least not fired by now? Your store looks feels and smells like a slump from a third world country without electricity! On the way out I saw a few boxes of raspberries marked as a special sale item, they were just about black and shrunk to the size of a pencil eraser. Let me give you some advice sir, if you didn't sell them 2 months ago when they were fresh because you were asking 84 dollars a pound you will not sell them now for 12 dollars a pound either! You are disgusting! Do you ever walk around in that place? There was a cooked chicken under a heat lamp in the back of the store this thad been there for at least 3 days! People drive to ferndale so they close this dump down and let someone else open up a decent grocery store! I really don't get it! How are these people still in business? Went shopping this afternoon from Vancouver BC, but did not find anything worthwhile at the Blaine Cost Cutter store except some cheese and poultry. I was however taken by the "Special Priced" T Bone steaks. When I arrived back home and opened the package the steaks smelled as if they were on a "Special" because the "Best Before Date" run out a long time ago.... My last visit to this store!

I just read down the lines and realized that others had the same horrible experience. I wish I would have read their blogs to prevent the possibility of contracting a "un-healthy" dose of food poison. A few months after the review above we went back for some dairy products and passed the meat counter mentioned above. The butcher behind the meat counter waved us a friendly 'Hello' offering his help. I mentioned the bad experience we had on our previous visit, but not demanding any replacement or refund. He apologised profusely and without any further ado presented us with some replacement beefsteaks (in excess of our last purchase) guaranteed to be freshly cut. This proved to be true. I'm really excited about IGA Market and how it's going. A lot of the original staff members that have been there for a long, long time are still friendly faces I see when I go in. They have, for the most part, now been appropriately acknowledged and raised up into positions of management and supervision, as well they should've been long ago. Everything is being redone, and it is looking amazing now! The quality of the products is great, and way above the standards of quality of the previous market. The staff is very friendly, and they're always available and happy to help out with any questions you may have. The weekly ad, the app, and digital coupons are available, and you can save quite a bit of money using them. Their sale prices are pretty low, and they have additional coupon books that come out every so often. Hours are convenient, location is ideal, and THE DOL COUNTER IS STILL AVAILABLE, for those who may not know or had heard otherwise! That alone is worth its weight in gold!
