I can’t begin to express the level of disappointment I felt during my time at Victory Golf. Four friends and I were specifically harassed and targeted by an employee by the name of Jason Erickson who is a golf instructor/grounds keeper at the course. To provide additional context, my friends and I are relatively new to golfing at a course, but not new to golf. We were set to golf 18 holes on a beautiful Saturday afternoon; however, we were abruptly interrupted by Jason and were told we could not have our golf carts anywhere on the green. Fair enough! (In all honestly, we never had our carts on the green only near it). Once Jason called this out in a disrespectful & unprofessional manner we still abided and ensured we parked only on the rough parts of the grass or along the road path. Jason approached us again and attempted to scold us as if we were children stating that our carts could not be anywhere on the grass including the rough! Interestingly enough numerous other golfers had their carts close to the green and/or on the rough patches of the grass but were not warned. At this point, my friends and I were infuriated and confronted Jason as he was stalking us from afar. I had asked Jason if he planned to watch us through the entirety of our time there and he stated “You are just wasting time talking to me, you can either continue golfing as I watch or leave the course”. For the next 2-3 hours Jason followed us and watched us closely as we were golfing and made our golf experience extremely uncomfortable.
Now, the next thing I’m about to write may be uncomfortable for many to read, but I believe is warranted. My friends and I were subjected to racial profiling and it was blatantly obvious from the beginning. My group consisted of all individuals from ethnic backgrounds and we were all polite and courtesy when dealing with Jason, however, the level of harassment, tone of voice, and condescending attitude directed to only our group justifies my claim. Once we reported our poor experience to the front desk receptionist (did not get his name), he stated he was the one who sent Jason due to complaints from other golfers. Once I called out the racial profiling, the receptionist quickly changed his story and claimed the reason he sent Jason was because they had an incident with high schoolers the weekend prior. So which reason was it exactly?
All in all, I recommend the management at Victory Golf reassess their policies and retrain their staff to ensure it doesn’t happen again, but this is a fair warning to those that are POC to stay far away from an establishment that not only profiles guests, but...
Read moreI've been here a few times and have never experience this type of treatment. But this time we were approached by a man name Jason Erickson and he is a golf instructor here.
We are relatively new and it was a lot of first timers on a course. We were not aware of the golf etiquette that comes when riding a golf cart. Now that's fine, we are always open to learning and abiding the rules. BUT the way this man approached us was extremely rude and ill-mannered.
I noticed he was watching and following us and if you ever golfed before you know this is quite frustrating and unnerving. So I approached him (If you know me I am very polite and would never cause any type of confrontation in this type of setting) and asked him is there something we can help him with.
He yelled, "DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE RULES YOU NEED TO STAY 30 FT OFF THE TEE BOXES AND ON THE ROAD!" Let me mention, this mans face was flush red, SHAKING, and yelling this out to me and my friends. He also spoke to us as if we did not understand English. And this was the FIRST encounter we had with him.
He continued to follow us starting from hole 4!! This was extremely uncomfortable. He would try to hide in the woods and continued to watch us. He then rushed us by telling us to hurry up and to skip multiple holes. Yet, when we would reach the next hole there would be people there and we would have to wait. This made no sense! We have photos of people clearly closer than 30ft near the hole and driving on the green. Unprofessional and terrible manners presented from him.
This could've gone a lot differently IF Victory Links Golf Course trained this staff member with more respect and helped guide us on how to follow the...
Read moreThis is just a review of the practice area and driving range.
To get golf balls for the driving range you can go to the beverage/snack shack that is behind the hill. You do not need to go to the pro shop on the top of the hill if you are just doing the driving range or putting course. You will get a bucket of prefilled balls you bring to the driving range just a short walk from the shack. It’s over a berm, so you can’t really see it from the shack. Everyone gets their own space at the range, there is a chair as well so you can bring someone who just wants to watch. You do need to bring tees. A large bucket of about 100 balls was $12.
The putting course is fun. There are markers that you can use as a starting spot and numbered holes. There were also some places with unmarked holes that you can practice as well. The sand bunkers around the putting course all had signs saying no bunker play. There were some people chipping from the rough into the putting surface.
Overall this was a great place to try golfing. This did have a great family friendly atmosphere and there were a number of people who brought their kids to the...
