I never leave reviews, but I feel this one needs to be heard. My daughter lives 1200 miles away and ordered a bbq grill online from Gerritys Ace in Peckville for her father for Father’s Day. The online order was cancelled by Ace. Her total order was $548. No email to explain why, we were just alerted when the delivery never happened. Called the store to speak with the manager Joe who stated the order was cancelled and she can just reorder it. The problem is, her money won’t be returned for 7-10 days (per the delayed email cancellation finally received a few hours later.) But she agreed to pay again and sent the money for the grill to me via Apple Pay so that we could get it in time for Father’s Day. She sent $546, the order was $548. Figuring that I could use Apple Pay like a gift card and run Apple Pay first and put the additional $2 on my debit card, I went back to Ace a second time. The manager Joe scanned both items (totaling $548) and ran the Apple Pay, but he didn’t know how to run the additional $2, and voided the sale. Well $546 was deducted from my Apple Pay account and won’t be refunded for 5-7 business days. He looked at me, and asked me if I want to buy it again! I was very upset because he obviously didn’t hear me the first time when I said that she is now paying a second time, and hasn’t received her first refund back. So since yesterday Ace has $1094 and we have no grill. I told Joe that IF the money goes back on my card by tomorrow, I would consider coming back and re-purchasing, and he told me he would offer a discount on the grill for all the hassle (at this point a discount would be the ONLY thing that would bring me back.) Well the money didn’t go back on, BUT I figured to avoid having my daughter pay a 3rd time, I would just go back and purchase it myself (so that she could give her father his gift for Father’s Day) and just keep the Apple Pay refund once it comes in, and give the discount difference back to my daughter. So I called this morning and spoke to weekend manager James who states that he called the “higher ups” and they refused a discount but would offer a free bag of wood chips lol. So at this point, my daughter is still owed $1094 in refunds from Ace. We were happy to see that Home Depot offers the same grill, so I purchased it from there. We are the people who like giving our business to small town shops, but we will never shop at Ace in...
Read moreNestled within our community is a gem of a hardware store, a place that seemingly defies the norm of the retail experience by combining the extensive inventory of a big-box retailer with the charm and service of a local shop. Throughout my numerous visits, I have been consistently impressed with the variety of items on offer – a veritable cornucopia of hardware that caters to both common and obscure needs.
The significance of this establishment is not merely in its inventory, though. It is also in the nuanced understanding that the staff exhibits, a knowledge base that seems to extend far beyond the aisles they oversee. Their guidance has often been instrumental in not just acquiring a particular item, but in ensuring that it is the correct solution to the task at hand.
What strikes me most is the store’s quiet competence. In an age where retail experiences are often diluted by an overwhelming focus on either scale or specialty, this store manages to bridge the gap – presenting the consumer with both variety and expertise. For the practical consumer, the convenience of having such a resource locally cannot be overstated. There is a distinct satisfaction in knowing that a quick trip to this store will yield all that is required for a project.
In recognition of the value this store provides to the community, it would be remiss not to mention the economic and social benefits of patronizing local businesses. Such establishments are the lifeblood of a community, and by supporting them, we foster a stronger, more interconnected society.
To conclude, this hardware store stands as a testament to the enduring value of local businesses in an era dominated by sprawling retail chains. It has earned not only my patronage but also my genuine respect for its dedication to providing a comprehensive, accessible, and knowledgeable hardware...
Read moreIt is normally a great place to stop if you're in the middle of a project and don't want to drive to Dickson City for something you forgot.
I'm walking around putting various things in my cart as I'm actively on a phone call with my wife.
I'm making my way through the various aisles telling my wife what I see on sale. Friendly employees are fine, but when you happen to pop up in the same aisle over and over and continuously ask if I need help despite me declining your offer.
Even explaining about my wife on the phone doesn't stop the harassment I felt very uncomfortable.
I understand that theft in the retail world is a huge problem. But escorting paying customers while they are carrying on a conversation is not ok with me.
These interactions are also why nobody is going out in person.
Would rather be on camera and ignored at home depot than have someone holding my hand without asking for assistance.
Last reciept attached.
