If you are staying at Bluff Resort (or anywhere near!) the expeditions offered by Wild Adventures are an incredible way to experience the local landscape and enjoy an amazing time! We selected the sunset tour of The Valley of the Gods with our guide Eli and we loved it so much! Eli picked us up directly at the hotel and and we hopped in the vehicle thoughtfully packed with additional bottles of water, snacks and deckchairs and blankets for the top of the mountain where we would watch the sun set :-). We drove out via Comb Ridge with Eli sharing really interesting stories about the history and culture of the region. We arrived in the middle of the Valley of the God’s, marvelling at what looked like a lost city with rock structures that resembled the Parthenon, a castle, a cathedral. After a couple of photo stops we started to climb the Moki Dugway reaching the summit in plenty of time to take in the stunning views from the top out to The Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks State Park, Monument Valley on the horizon and Navajo Mountain. The sunset was so beautiful. We appreciated Eli‘s knowledge and kind personable approach so much. He is a very talented guide. Don’t miss it if you are in the area!

I've been skydiving, swimming with sharks, wild caving, and big tuna hunting. Somehow, the Black Hole in White Canyon takes the cake for epic adventures! All in the space of a few hours you will scramble boulders, sweat through your t-shirt, swim water that never sees sunlight, shiver from the cold, and beg your thighs to climb you back out of the canyon. I showed up with no climbing experience but with a daily home exercise practice. My guide, Brock, made me feel like a strong contributor to our expedition, like a member of the team! This was all down to his careful, unobtrusive guidance. His help was always available but never insistent. He let me set the pace and the tone of the journey. I went from a somewhat trepidacious hiker to a semi-confident boulder scrambler. I totally felt like we were in it together, especially through the cold a$$ swims. If you are considering this journey, BOOK IT! You will walk in one of the most awe-inspiring places on the planet; plunge into dark, cold water, hear your guide remind you to breath, and discover your mind calming and your body begin to swim; and if you're lucky, wake up the next morning sore and scraped up!

My husband and I did the San Juan River & Hummer Cliff Dwelling Expedition tour. It was a very easy and relaxing day on the river. The river moves gently but swift. You can float most of the 6.5 miles so it makes for an easy day on the river. We stopped to see a very large rock panel of rock art. It was spectacular to see so much on one wall. After that we stopped for lunch on the river and then headed onto the hummer. We had the military hummer and it was a lot of fun! We stopped to see a 1,000 year old cliff dwelling. I never get tired of seeing them so I really enjoyed that. It was really nice to beat the heat that summer brings and having a relaxing day. I also really liked that we had our own kayaks and not on a large float with other people. It's also really nice to not be surrounded by hundreds of tourist in Moab and on the Colorado River. This felt more private and secluded. All in all a great summer activity that anyone can enjoy.

We did the full day canyoneering trip to Fry Canyon. Levi and Eli were our tour guides. We were a group of four women, ages 15 to 52. They picked us up at Bluff Dwellings Resort in a Sprinter van. One of us was wearing shorts and they advised her that pants would be a better option. She changed and it was a good call. The van was clean and comfortable. During the hour long drive to the trailhead, we had a nice conversation about the area and our guides’ backgrounds. They gave us an overview of what the day would be like, and the weather and terrain we should expect to see. They did a sanity check with us to make sure that was what we were expecting. It was. We parked and they fitted us for helmets. We had brought snacks and water but they had everything for us so we left our backpack behind and relied on their supplies. They both carried all of the ropes and harnesses necessary, along with lunch and water in their backpacks. We hiked a mile or so to the canyon entrance, and entered through a slot canyon with water- that we could wade through. We hiked some more and harnessed up to drop into a lower section of the canyon. One person in our group got freaked out and Eli and Levi managed it well. They led her through the canyon and she realized she was braver than she thought! At the bottom, some swimming was required. We lucked out on a cloudy July day, so we actually were a little chilly when we exited the slot canyon and stopped for lunch below some ruins. The lunch was fantastic and they did a good job making sure to have a celiac safe lunch for one of us. The last par of the adventure was to hike up on of the canyon walls to return to the van. It was a scramble with some good breathers. Eli and Levi once again made sure we were safe and taken care of. Back at the van they had watermelon, hand sanitizer and a wash station set up for us. Our ride home was full of local stories and interesting facts. It was a perfect day. And a...
