I’m upset with our first experience here. It was only two of us, and we tried to get in line to order something at the bar. There were tons of older, aggressive individuals crowding around, getting progressively angry about the disorganization of the line and how people were just standing around. I struggled to find space anywhere and felt in the way ever since I walked in the door. No one was willing to point us towards a line, which they didn’t have to, but we weren’t acknowledged at all and I just felt like we walked into a crowd that was not very welcoming. It almost seemed like a private event, but we checked online multiple times and made sure that we were okay to go before entering.

As we were standing there I heard a few remarks from customers about people standing around and being in the way. Those were more than likely directed towards us, and I am sorry if we were intrusive. We did not understand the process of ordering a drink or looking at the bottles for sale, and the bartender was too busy handing the drink making to tend to us, especially having to deal with customers who were much more eager than us to purchase something. We left empty handed after realizing it wasn’t the environment for us. We had driven three hours out of our way to try this place out, so I was and still am pretty disappointed. Other than the disorganization of the line, I do not put blame on the owners for my disappointment, as I am sure they have a lot on their plate. Regardless, I felt like no one cared about us here. We weren’t acknowledged once. It is very clear to me that others have had a great experience, so I am happy to see that most people do get treated right. LOCAL LIQUOR ALERT Bogue Sound Distillery

Ill start by saying take the tour and support your local community! Took the tour and was amazed at the knowledge, the layout and overall process of the entire operations. This tour is an obvious behind the scenes view of the entire operations and you get one on one with the workers and the tour guide Kim. It starts with the history of the family and then goes into the tour of the current established location and the variety of liquors they offer. The current liquors they offer are Spiced Run, Coconut rum, White rum, Salted Caramel whiskey, small batch bourbon, wheated bourbon, Straight Rye, Bombshell Gin, Vodka and my personal favorite was their peanut butter whiskey.

A tucked away gem off highway 24 a little bit past the bridge to turn onto Emerald Isle. This place has plenty going on all the time, cigars and whiskey nights, Live music, Karaoke, Bingo and the list is growing and changing to bring in the crowds.

The peanut butter whiskey matched with their jelly shot (syrup) is very dangerous. NO matter how big the mixed drink or cocktail makes this stuff super dangerous by tasting like childhood peanut butter jelly sandwiches! Being a whiskey drinking I very much enjoyed the straight rye they offer which at the time proofed at 115 on the day. I enjoyed this over a whiskey rock and sipped it while on the tour. Smooth tasting with the punch that a rye should have.

Do yourself a favor and put this place on the must visit list, you wont regret it.

Kim (the bartender) was awesome...great place to experience some drinks and distilled spirits. Been to big distilleries in Kentucky and smaller ones in NC and WV a Tennessee. All interesting in some degree but not all of the alcohol is good. You will find something to like here but I think something that is underrated is there fair prices. Very few young distilleries offer products appropriately priced but this one is great. I walked out with 4 bottles and felt like that i walked out with a good deal. Their Vodka is genuinely good at 85 proof which is a game changer when almost all vodkas are proofed down to 80. Their Gin is refreshingly good and I loved there peanut butter whiskey rendition.
