Great company, good benefits, various positions available, generous PTO, sick and vacation time. Almost all the work there is full time even for contract workers with decent pay. I started as contract and was converted to permanent full-time in about 6 months. The position I'm in is great knowledge, learning so much about the things I do (knowledge I can take anywhere within the company or another large corporate America company, I have worked for a couple of the biggest i.e. here at Philips a global company, and SeaWorld of Orlando when it was owned by Anheuser-Busch which is also a global company. It was referred to as Busch Entertainment Corporation). I say that because of the move to Nashville TN by 2019. I can choose to go which I'm seriously considering as I have been there and I loved it, or if I seek other employment, I have that much more skill set to add to my resume.
I am willing to learn as much as I can even if it is something I don't want to. The more knowledge the better. Example, when I was on the benefit side of health care i.e. Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Federal Market Place, private insurance, I did not want to learn claims, I loved doing what I did and I was good at it. After a year and half of working for Banner University Medical Center, (they're a Philips customer) and two requests to move to the claims department with a pay increase, I still declined. The third time I didn't have a choice. I didn't like it but I'm so glad I learned it. It was great knowledge. There's so much detail involved with the work I do as an order processor in the imaging department.
There's so much to learn and things are always changing with the process's of what we do. My mother always used to tell me to learn as much as I can because everything can be taken from you except the knowledge inside your head. Knowledge is power, knowing things, knowing is only half the battle. This is a great job with so much to learn and I love learning, even if it doesn't peak my interest, it's still knowledge.
One of the things I do not like is the lack of actual training. It's all on the job training and workflows. It's very frustrating. I prefer a formal training environment with guidance. You sit with different people and they all do things differently. Once we're cut loose and our own it's like being fed to the Lions. End of month, end of quarter, and year end can be brutal. The hours we put in and the pressure to get it done is exhausting and beyond stressful.
I know too that we don't always like the people we work with, but goodness sakes there's a person on my team that makes it a borderline hostile work environment. Documentation is key for incidents because some day it's going to get to HR.
Overall I love the...
Read moreThey’ll do better if they also have Blacks Management’s..So black people can feel more comfortable working there. Those managers and supervisors thinks blacks are fit for doing the odd jobs like heavy lifting jobs, material handling, cleaning jobs, etc. .. while they create room for the tech professionals and more reasonable positions for Asian and Caucasian. I mean we all buy and use Philips products. The company is good but check your managers and supervisors intensively there are discriminations for black people. Even though they are qualified to do the job. Just from personal sad experience from philips health Bothell Washington. I was motivated by sad experience to go open my own company, and doing better now. Even though I never had the opportunity to be given a chance to the contribution and growth of...
