First of all, if you decide to climb this peak, this is an 1100+ foot ascent from Baseline Road or Eben Fein Park, so be aware of your abilities if you want to get to the top that way. (Before you Fourteener addicts scoff at my mentioning that, yeah, I've been up most of those also, and you and I both know the problems caused when someone gets summit fever and outclimbs their training.) The trail is class 1 (well developed, non-techical) all the way, so you won't have trouble with that aspect, but it does require that you not be badly out of shape. But you can also drive to the top during the summer, and the views of the Rockies are spectacular. The spot is marked on an online trail map though not well enough to guide you there, so I assume that it is okay to visit it, but you are off-trail so tread lightly. A GPS can help you choose the summit from a couple of possibilities. There is no fee to visit if you hike up from Chautaqua, or Eben Fein Park, but there are parking fees if you...

Even if you've only got an extra half hour for lunch, drive up and have your lunch in the parking lot with one of the most amazing views that you'll get anywhere.
I can't imagine what early folks must have thought when they came upon this view. Truly a place to do some deep thinking if you're...

It's the perfect spot for a peaceful walk, a bit of light exercise, or just to soak in the natural beauty. Highly recommend if you're...
