Marty is great! but corporate management just gets dumber and dumber! I have to relate what happened to me when I was in the original Luckys last weekend. After 2 weeks of shopping there without being able to get any fresh guacomole, I asked Marty, who's the weekend store opener for help. Marty's reply was "Maybe they just haven't made it yet. Marty was willing to take a couple extra minutes a little after 8 A.M. to go back to the deli to get me fresh guacomole. . Marty is the epitome of customer service. An example of his attitude is what he said to me when I was having a bad weekend in January "I just want you to leave the store with a smile on your face!" If the entire Luckys organization operated like this it would be a much better place. I also think that if someone offered Marty the position of running the company, he would be smart enough to turn down the offer. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that Luckys has lost a lot of the original vision as it's grown. The first was the rewards system that discriminated against elderly people who didn't want or couldn't use a smartphone. I compensated for this by shifting much of my shopping to a natural foods store that lets you sign up online. It didn't get better. In the beginning Lucky's maintained a lot of items that made the original North Boulder Grocery Store a good place to shop for people who would rather die than have to go to S-way. I think that the first thing to disappear was tartar sauce, I compensated by buying that at my natural food store. Although there were other things the one that I found was most irritating is that Luckys quite selling gluten free graham cracker crust pie shells. When I asked for them, the clerk (not Marty) replied. "We quit carrying pie shells to make room for more sugar in [ the baking section]". If anyone at Luckys had ever bothered to do the math, at my peak of baking, I was making 24 cheesecakes a year which at $5/pie shell adds up to $120/year which is a lot of sugar. Unfortunately, now I have to buy my pie shells at S-way. The last example is that Luckys NoBo quit stocking distilled water this past summer. Although there's still a space in the store , it's always empty. When I've asked on 2 occasions I've been told - "we'll check the dock" but it's never there. Now I buy my distilled water for myself and my wife who both use a-paps at Whole Paycheck. 2 years ago , I spent 75% of my grocery money at Luckys now I'm down to about 10% because of things like this....
Read moreWILL KING, is the most AMAZING EMPLOYEE YOU WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE HAD HIRED! But if he dont get a raise i personally know a lot of managers that will darn near double the starting pay in order to have customers like me rant about working in their establishment!! See i never thought i would shop in a place that looked like yuppies run it i dont buy things made from companies unknown. I aint into organic and was pretty sure bargains would not be found in. Then one day i had to run in with a ton of doubt i would find it and pretty sure waste of time. Anxiety took over and i couldnt move. Two feet in the store and i was frozen. Then the biggest smile from a sweet young man came towards me. He was so gentle and just talked like an old friend until i had forgot i had never been there before. He made me feel at home. He asked about items i was looking for then just made it feel like a stroll thru the park on a beautiful day. He escorted me to each item. Then WILL managed to cause my face to giggle and before i knew it i had a huge smile. The best customer service representation i had seen in 15 years. I asked his name so i tell his boss of the job that he he in thanks of choosing excellence. Before i knew it i became a regular shopper and so have many people i have told this to. And when hear how cute he is well lets just say girls love to talk and bring their friends to shop. Between teen girls ive sent and businesses i have bragged to, i hope that your able to keep him paid very well and taken care of. You dont find that kind of service nor humanity these days. Will the sky is not the limit. Keep up the the...
Read moreMy opinion: It should be called "Unlucky's" because the prices are a complete ripoff here. Customers slowly roam the aisles with their eco-bags in tow, with a sour, dour expression on their faces-- any type of sweet or dessert or non-staple food item here (the types of things that put a smile on people's faces) is often priced at about twice what it should really cost the customer... it's the old Whole Foods pricing model, but taken to the extreme. I don't care that it's a small market, a ripoff is a ripoff as I see it. The only reason this place still exists is because King Soopers hasn't put in a store in this area yet (King Soopers sells more quality and local organics than both Whole Foods and Sprouts combined)... the moment they put a in store on this side of town, many will never step foot in Lucky's again-- and I think Lucky's knows this and is milking it for all they can while they can. I've been here since 1999 and all I can think of is that they must have hired some former Whole Foods execs from the era when it was jokingly called "Whole Paycheck" (before Amazon bought them)... but even Whole Foods has learned their lesson and often their prices beat King Soopers on some items these days. It will be too late for Lucky's to then pivot on prices once a big chain comes in and starts to eat their lunch. I told my girlfriend tonight that I will never walk into this store again-- I'll drive to Gunbarrel or downtown Boulder instead, polluting the world because my local grocer wants to have really...
