I've been to this place multiple times, and every single time that I go, the lady at the register has the WORST attitude! I understand we are human, sometimes we're having a bad day. For a while there I thought maybe she was just having a bad day, but today after going for the LAST time, she made me realize she just feels she entitled to her attitude because she owns the place.
When you go on the Google menu, Breakfast Burritos show at $3.25 (I took a screenshot of price on the burrito I ordered, which was the Loco Burrito). When I ordered this I asked for no meat, so minus chorizo and ham. At this point the burrito only has potatoes, tomatoes, onions, egg and cheese. I've requested the most expensive items OUT of the burrito. I called in the order, and drove to pick up. When I got to the register, I was friendly with the lady and mentioned my order for pick up. She said the total was $5.40. Naturally I was like, whoa, big difference on price from the menu online. So I mentioned to her that the website showed something different and all I had was the $3.50 cash. She rolled her eyes and started mentioning that the price is there on the screen (in store), disregarding the information that's being provided on a national site. So now because I am hungry and only have a 20 minute break to pick up food and get back to work, I apologized to her for the confusion. PAUSE: I APOLOGIZED TO HER. NOT ONCE DID SHE APOLOGIZE TO ME, THE CUSTOMER BEING GIVEN FALSE PRICING INFORMATION. At this point, a gentleman even told her to give me the burrito at $3.25, she pushed him into not giving it to me. Kept telling him no no. When I went to order a burrito worth $3.25, because that was all I had cash- she turns to the guy and says "so what do we end up doing with this other burrito?"
I was in shock that this lady was going above and beyond NOT to help me. I was so frustrated and had to head back to work from my break. As I am walking out, she speaks to this guy in Spanish and says "no dont worry about it, shes complicated". I of course walked back in and asked her if she was seriously speaking bad about me. She then started shooing me away with her hand ,and rolling her eyes. At the end I just mentioned that her attitude was going to make them lose business. Walked out.
Its really a shame. Because they have good priced food, but at the end if you're leaving a place with horrible vibes, or feel like your imposing, its not the greatest experience. I work far from the city, but now I'd much rather drive further in than try and support a place that doesn't value their customers. Thank you to the gentleman that tried to offer a resolution from the beginning. Now that burrito is just sitting there, or its in the trash. Its a sad day for that burrito. -1...
Read moreI rarely write reviews but this place is deserving of a huge thumb down. I'm shocked at what people think is good Mexican food, because this place was disgusting. The only thing authentic about La Choza was the tacos small tortillas. I was sick eating the food and I'm still nauseous, so is my family. I can't even believe they use cheese sauce, what self-respecting Mexican restaurant uses cheese sauce? The meat was burnt, the produce was low grade, the chips were tasteless like cardboard and the guacamole was flavorless. In fact, everything lacked flavor and we had to salt all our food just to add flavor. The food was barely edible at best. Yes, the food was cheap, but you get what you pay for. I thought Boulderites had discerning tastes but the positive reviewers got this really wrong. I've been to 'hole in the wall' establishments and enjoyed their food and quaint decor, but La Choza put no effort into their restaurant. The walls and ceiling were dirty and dingy, the booth seats were torn and the walls were devoid of any decor. It was depressing to sit in there which tells me that the restaurant conditions are a direct reflection of the effort they put into their food....
Read moreThis hole in the wall off N Broadway in Boulder you would almost miss it if you weren’t looking for it. Tucked in the corner next to a little flower shop on the west side of Broadway just north of Violet, some of the best authentic midwestern Mexican food truck style grub I’ve ever had. I feel like if my mother were Hispanic this is what she’d serve me on a Sunday. The Tortas are amazing, warm soft bread and the perfect balance of toppings/condiments to compliment the fresh of the grill Barbacoa or Asada 🤤 The street style tacos are up there with the best of them. Can’t forget to chase it with a Mexican coke in a glass bottle. I work in Boulder and eat here 3 times a week for lunch, and I’m a pinchè guero! Definitely worth a stop...
