PLEASE, READ BEFORE YOU APPLY!!!! This institution has a the worse service I have ever experienced. We went to this place asking questions about a Heloc, we specifically asked questions about income, ratio income debt, appraisal fees and procedures. I have 2 jobs a FT and a PT job. I was told you have to have 2 years of history at work, which my wife and I have. For my PT job I was told that they will try to use it because I have only been there for about 8 months which I found bizarre, normally as long as you have a FT job and you have been working more than 6 months in your PT job you should be ok, that did not matter to me much because my wife makes good money. So I said ok, I hope you can use that as well. I asked about the debt income ratio percentage for their Heloc as I was told the debt income rate needed to be between 50 and 55%, it sounded reasonable if they would have paid most of my debt it should have been good to meet their needs. We decided to apply. I was asked for docs, We did our part and we did it well. I was also asked to provide proof of identity and 2 year history for my wife, which we did. We have good decent credit (not perfect) but as a banker I understand the reasons why and we were looking to put everything in one payment, save money and pay more to pay debt faster than doing what we are doing since our scores meet what they were asking for. I received a call and an update on my app, they Told me I was denied but I was given different reasons, different ones every time I questioned one of them. The first one was âunfortunatelyâwe cannot use your part time job income due to not be on that job for 2 years, seriously? I said well thatâs ok because we still make 7k without that income, then to a response to that I was told well we can only use your income because your wife has not being in the same job for the past 2 years? Wait a minute, I have never heard of such a thing as long as you have 2 years of history with no gaps or longer gaps you are fine, that was my answer then she kept going around with the same reason, I was not told we could not use It cause she didnât not work the same job for 2 years if not weâll never would applied in the first place, this sounded as an excuse. I asked to speak with the underwriter, by the way this is the first bank I known the underwriters wonât talk to you. I called back after they told me they will call me back in 30 minutes. She kept going with the same reason saying that our income was not enough, I wonder how I make my payments then and in 8 years I have only achieved to have 1 late payment. Finally I got to talk to a manager because I kept asking for it. This person was probably another regular rep not an underwriter. I engaged in a discussion that ended up being a bad experience as I expected, again she also went off saying that could not include my part time job which again is fine, since I wasnât satisfied with her answer went to say my wifeâs income and my income wasnât enough, then because I answered back she ended up saying now that even if they pay everything my debt income ratio would have been 52% so I wouldnât qualify for a loan because the income ratio needed to be 40%, which I was not told at all. Even with 7K a month I couldnât afford my mortgage and their 384 dollar a month payment? Unreal, Overall I am not 100% sure why my app was declined but the whole process was a horrible experience and deceiving, due to the wrong information now I have a hard inquiry on my report that they wonât retrieved, I went through all their policies, procedures and disclosures but found nothing of what I was told, she even said: itâs here, but she couldnât prove it. I asked for copies and I'll be waiting for them as well as my letter with the decision to be able to look further into it. We felt discriminated and fooled. Think twice before applying , I recommend AFCU or Cyprus. I contacted them and they take the extra income as long as you have been there for 6 months and 2 years of work history with no gaps. I do not recommend this...
Read moreEXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I was with this Credit union with my personal and 3 company accounts. I began using this CU over ten years ago. In the beginning they were great. Over the last 4 years the customer service has gone down to what I wouldn't even call it customer service. I ran MILLIONS of dollars through them a year with my accounts. I requested multiple loans which took so long I ended up going to other financial institutions. One of which was a simple vehicle loan. Even though I had the money in my accounts to pay cash to purchase the vehicle but they still needed more info and documentation that they already had. I went into America First credit union and had a loan in 15 minutes! No kidding! They wouldnt refinance my house, which I did with another institution. They wouldn't refinance my commercial property which another institution did for me. I had fraud on my accounts and it was a nightmare dealing with Ufirst. I needed funds released on approved checks and they wouldn't release them, even though they are able to loan against those funds. its going to cost me thousands of dollars to move all my accounts to a new financial institution but this Credit union will not be getting any more of my money. If you are a customer Oriented person and like customer service this financial institution isn't for you. In my opinion none of the employees simply don't care about...
Read moreHorrible service and no compassion! They boast about these empty awards for service as soon as the prompt picks up. Anyone who has to brag about their awards for a simple phone call is ridiculous. Read this PLEASE. My wife and I were forced to open this account by the company we purchased a car from. We didnât think it would be a big deal because banks/CU are pretty easy to work with. We only use this account for my wifeâs car loan. We have her second jobâs paycheck go in there to pay the note. There is usually a little money for us to use for one off purchases. She used a few dollars at the same moment I used a few dollars. When we arrived home after a half hour she informed me that she used the card. I told her I did as well, and we ended up being a dollar and some change overdrawn. We immediately took money and deposited it into the University account. It was overdrawn for maybe two hours at most. They still charged me an overdraft fee! They wouldnât take it away because we requested the same service when we were going through COVID hardships in July. If you are forced to get an account here, turn around. This place...
