I have been shopping at this DI for 3 yrs and have typically been very happy. However today when I went it became painfully obvious that customer service was lacking.
I am currently in my third trimester of pregnancy and recovering from a broken ankle (on crutches). While shopping with my 3yr old and my mother. My kiddo needed to use the restroom (yes I had had them go at home before we left). The restrooms are completely blocked off and apparently customers are not allowed to use them. We asked an employee if given the circumstances there could be an exception. 5 employees were involved in this discussion and we were told we would have to "'Run down' to the gas station on the corner." Once again i am very pregnant with broken ankle and not able to 'run' anywhere. I understand that we live in a COVID world but I feel my kid accidentally peeing on their floor is more of a safety risk then letting them use the restroom.
So my mom took my kid to the gas station on the corner and I was left with the shopping cart in the middle of a walkway (while still on crutches). All the employees scattered very quickly and I was left to figure out how to get the cart out of the walkway by myself. Push the cart a bit and take a step on the crutches, push the cart a bit and take a step. Employees saw this but none came close enough for me to ask for help. However after I had hobbled mostlt out of the way a nice customer did offered to help.

   Read moreI purchased a head board for a queen bed. The guy that wrote the ticket treated me like I just dropped a million dollars! Easily one of the nicest guys I've met.
The aforementioned ticket guy was from Guinea and I don't think English was his first language, so he wrote the ticket as a bed frame. It didn't bother me, but the guys at the pickup dock got a laugh out of it...and not in a good way. They were unprofessional, rude, and they started making fun of the ticket guy like they were back in grade school. Keep in mind they were all older than me (I'm 21). It took all of my self restraint to not blow up on them!
To the ticket guy from Guinea, I'm sorry you have to work with such bigoted men who actually like they just graduated from diapers to pull ups. To the "men" at the pickup dock, I'm ashamed to have ever been met with your presence. Grow up and do something with your life that doesn't involve poking fun at...
   Read moreUpdate: It's a rare pleasure to update a review and to add stars. As far as I've noticed, the fragrance has been removed and I can safely shop here again. I'm so grateful that they stopped pumping whatever that was through the air system. I don't care about the prices, I just want to be here and pass some time. I'm a happy return customer, as always. Thank you! Now if only the Layton location would get their act together, all Deseret Industries could be poison-free!
Original review: It smells so horrible with the artificial fragrance all over. Why poison your customers? I used to be dedicated to DI but going in like I did today instantly made me sick. Please stop harming people, you don't need to use that and your employees are suffering the most being exposed to that. Research what fragrances do to the human...
