I like to do something I call a “test sale”. In these sales I like to go in and tell them I have no idea what I have or at least I don’t know what I want to sell them for (I essentially give them free reign to make the sale price). I had a binder worth well over $400 ($450 give or take) and a small binder with promos and low level ex’s worth approximately $140. I went in with the knowledge they buy at approximately 60% but the actual value was closer to 45% with everything being bought at a $250 price tag. I did complete the transaction just to see if there would be some change in heart but unfortunately there was not. I will not be making this my primary shop as the buy back value is disrespectful, they were nice people though so if you don’t care about pricing then maybe this small shop is right...
Read moreI’ve bought sports cards here for a while now. Ever since the older gentleman took over the store, the sports cards prices have gotten OUTRAGEOUS. There are $5 singles in the case that are marked $25. Wild. The bargain bins have gone to crap. You used to be able to sometimes find $1 or $2 cards in the .25 bin to make it worth your time. You could sometimes find $2 or $3 cards in the $1 bins, again, to make it worth your time. The $0.25 bins are now filled base cards that are literally worthless. The $1 bins are filled with parallels that are worth $0.25. Just because it’s a parallel does not automatically mean it’s worth $1 by default. Fix your card prices or you’re never going to...
