Over the last five or six years I have purchased for myself and/or girlfriend two stoves and two washing machines from Lambco in Cataumet. Matthew Lambert was always a good guy with whom to deal. Delivery people were good, sometimes delivering washing machines down narrow cellar steps that made a right angle turn......a difficult maneuver. A week ago I purchased a new 29” dryer. Matt asked me if it would fit into the space. I measured it. Clearly there is at least 29 1/2 - 29 3/4” clearance . However, to get the door clearance, two half-round moldings, very flimsy, had to be pried off to get the necessary opening. I could almost pull them off. They are not too secure. My home is an old beach cottage. The delivery guys showed up. It is easy entrance up three steps through my front door. It is then about a twenty-five foot straight run to the door to the space where the dry would go. They measured the door opening which was less than 29”. I said I could pry off the flimsy molding. They left. I have had many items delivered to my homes. Delivery guys have always helped a bit. Not these guys. Very disappointing. God forbid they could have waited a few minutes for me to take down the molding. I went to the store. Matt really didn’t want to hear it. I maintain their was easily 29 1/2” clearance. Matt had asked if there was clearance and there certainly is. I have always had a helping hand from delivery guys If Matt had explained that the delivery guys do nothing other than delivery, I ‘d have had the molding down. I saw nothing else in the store that fit my needs without ordering for an indefinite delivery date. Matt after a long go-around offered to re-deliver at no additional charge. I told him I wanted a refund. He made a few statements that I didn’t want tHe re-delivery because I didn’t have the space. He was way out of line making a judgement concerning something he knows nothing about. He never measured it. I did. Was he calling me a liar? This fiasco cost me $130.00. The thrill was gone.
