FOOD BAZAAR — Local services in Bridgeport

I am giving one star not for the store cause the store is excellent w things you can't usually find anywhere else ..spices jellies And jams powdered malt for added protein very fresh fruit I found the absolute best apricots and would of stayed and spent more but besides them not supplying bags and not even offering the re usable ones unless you vocalize u need one then they pack that one bag so much u can't pick it up and don't even ask if u want another one and very uncomfortable experience from the second I walked in to a store I've never been to I was immediately stalked by the security guard who has a very strong Jamaican accent so when I asked for a cart which aren't inside the store he replied yes but don't steal buy things that spend money then I realized what he said as he handed me the cart and I was like ok I'm clearly being targeted for the color of my skin being the only one in the store w the skin color I as all of us didn't choose ..he proceeded to follow me around the store asking me questions like why are you looking down every aisle and at every description of whats in the aisle are you looking for something I'm like not anything imparticular just am shopping he again says you know not to take anything w out paying I say I just happened to see this store im not from the area he said oh this is your first time here I say yes he's like ok just pay for your items I look up there's clearly cameras everywhere I didn't even have anything but tea in my cart but he was convinced I would take something..I would of spent much more but felt like I was being persecuted for being a person that isn't the majority..the workers were rude I felt hate all around me just for my appearance and not being the norm that frequents there ...all that being said everything that I did purchase which wasn't inexpensive but it was fine cause where do you ever find mango yogurt and strawberry carnation instant breakfast and the spices and fresh fruit was the wow factor and that was only half of the store I felt so bad I didn't even continue but my purchases came to 117.40 for one heavy bag of stuff so it made me feel the hate from something that if they even knew their own ppls history weren't even started by ppl w my color skin but theirs and of course exploited by ignorance and opportunity..so sad what this world...

I’ve never had a worse experience at a supermarket! From the moment I arrived, I was met with rudeness and unprofessionalism that left me shocked. I didn’t even get the chance to make a purchase because the so-called "security" guard, who was barely coherent, informed me that I couldn’t enter the store simply because I was carrying bags from the neighboring store. While I understand the need for policies to prevent shoplifting, the way this was handled was completely unacceptable.

I even offered to stand right beside him while I waited for my ride, but he refused to allow it, forcing me outside into the 90-degree weather. There was absolutely no reason for him to assume I was up to no good—he profiled me without any justification. I was treated as if I were some kind of criminal when all I wanted to do was shop.

The lack of respect and common sense displayed by the staff was truly appalling. This experience was not just inconvenient—it was humiliating and deeply frustrating. I’ve never been treated so poorly at a place where I was simply trying to shop. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I strongly urge the management to re-evaluate their customer service and...

I hope no one ever gets sick while shopping here, or parked in their parking lot, and needs medical care. On January 17th 2025, My mother completed her transaction, headed to the parking lot to load her groceries and found my father slumped over the steering wheel. In a panic my mother ran to the store and asked security to call an ambulance. Security informed the Manager, the Manger walked outside and asked my mother if she (my mother) does not have a phone, then proceeded to show my mother the address on the receipt where the ambulance should arrive. Luckily security explained "when we call, the ambulance arrives quicker". If the decision was solely left up to the Manager, my father's health would've continued to decline, and he wouldn't be home today.
