
Update: I called in today to ask about a prorated refund as I was paid up until the rest of this month but can’t use the gym (I realize it’s like $4 but at this point I’ve vowed to treat them as I was treated). After being on hold for 5 minutes Karen(from yesterday) answered. She acknowledged my review and said she would give me a refund if I removed my reviews. I told her I wouldn’t and then she went on to lie about how I cussed her out on the phone. Now remember I had her record it for my protection(she laughed at that). So is asked her to replay that recording so she could hear i wasn’t the one who cussed. She refused and said she has a memory and she didn’t need the recording (see why I wanted it for my protection). I pointed out to her that she wasn’t actually allowed to bribe me to remove my review. She then said she would just keep my refund until I did what she wanted. Karen is literally the definition of a joke of management.
10 gym was awesome, right up until I found out I had been lied to. I was told I was being put on a month to month contract, which I specifically asked for as I would be moving within 6 months, so a year wasn’t feasible. I move and I call to cancel like I was told I could only to be told I have to buy out my contract. Not happening....so I call and speak with ABC which does the processing for 10 Gyms Membership, explained my situation and she helped me remove my card from the account so I would no longer be charged. She then informed me that there was a note saying if someone had been told they were on a month to month and they were on a yearly to call the local branch. The next day I called the branch I used before I moved (Norman) and they were great, but said I would need to call corporate. They gave me the corporate number and I called. Here’s where things go bad. I speak with a lady on the phone I don’t remember her name and she says there is nothing she can do (mind you I’ve already removed my card). I ask for a manager and I’m transferred to Karen. I’m told Karen is the Vice President (I do not know if that’s true or not). Karen implies that I am stupid for assuming that I was on a month to month plan because I was paying $25/month. I understood how much was coming out of my account, because I was told it was still month to month but it included classes and guest privileges. So I upgraded. Karen then says there is nothing she can do as I signed up via the website. I explained to her that I signed up in the gym by a member. I did use a computer,but it was in the gym. I was unaware that they use the computer (website) to avoid showing a team member so there can never be an investigation. Karen hung up on me after screaming at me as I tried to explain that situation. I called back and asked Karen to record our conversation this time. She did, and then pretended to play dumb about my month to month subscription. She continued to be rude luckily and hostile. I informed her that I would just come speak to them in person as clearly we weren’t communicating via the phone. She then told me I was no longer welcome at 10 Gym. I then pointed out to her that I was a paying member as I had been conned into a year membership. She then told me my membership was cancelled and hung up on me. In the end it appears I’m not having to buy out the rest of the contract. Worst part is I never would have called corporate had I not been told to call. If already removed my card as stated so they couldn’t charge me any longer. I hope Karen learns some respect and customer service. If Karen is the Vice President of 10 Gym I can only imagine the work environment. Karen was a horrible representation of your company. I truly hope she is not the VP of...
Read moreHave been a Lifetime member at 10 Gym (formally All American) since the late 80's. My husband had the membership then when we got married I joined. Have had problems since the switch years ago from All American to 10 Gym. First had prepaid fitness sessions with one of the Trainers (before the change) We were grandfathered in as long as we paid our yearly dues. Which they stopped sending a bill, but my husband always went down on December 1st to pay every year. After the change they lost our record of prepayment for my training sessions?!?!? Luckily I had the original agreement. Had to visit the home office 2X to get my sessions back, with the same Instructor, they even had the same workers!! Then as our children grew up we added them to the tune of 200.00-300.00 a piece. We had our oldest daughter join, then the youngest daughter, sometimes they would bring a friend (free guest), sometimes I would bring a friend (free guest) They would fill out a form and we would go in. A few weeks ago my youngest joined another couple of hundred. Tonight my middle daughter went and brought a friend, and she was told she cannot bring any guests?!?! They said because we are All American Members?!?! Even though we have added three more members and pay our dues every year. Every time I go it is something to make me hate this gym. One time I took a guest and they said she can go in but cannot take the classes?!?!?! They make up the rules as they go along. Today Jeff on the phone couldn't get a manager for me, he went home?!? No manager on Duty?? Ok right! He told me he knew what my membership was. Asked for all my information then looked it up in the computer and then said...."I can't see your original membership" No because it was back in the 80's before computers but I can guarantee I have been bringing guests for years and it was a Lifetime membership, it included everything!!! Next they will say I can't tan, or I can't use the lockers. I am lifetime that means for the rest of my life I have the full membership with everything!!! Their website says bring a guest everyday!!! That is BS Calling Corporate tomorrow!! So sick...
Read more10GYM SUCKS!!! BUYER BEWARE!! 10GYM is a terrible experience. We upgraded from the $11/month to $25/month each and signed a contract for a year, so that we could drive 40 miles round-trip to go to another city since our 10GYM doesn't have either a pool OR a hot tub, but the 10GYM in Broken Arrow does. Problem is that even though they open the pool at 6:00 a.m. and the gym is open at 5:00 a.m., they don't have the pool maintenance guy clean or put chlorine tablets in until almost 3 hours later!! So I have personally scooped as many as 10 bugs including crickets and spiders out of the hot tub. Then after we get in the hot tub around 7:20 - 7:30 a.m., the experience is ruined, because the pool guy comes around and puts the water hose with cold water in to fill up the hot tub while people are in it or terribly strong chlorine tsblets that burn my eyes!! The garden hose with ice cold water lowers the temperature of the water to colder than bath water!! Why couldn't they add water just before they go home at night, when no customers are there, so that overnight the water could get over 95 degrees?!? I seriously doubt this hot tub has EVER made it to 105 degrees. And as far as locker rooms, my husband says that some nasty customer comes in and spits out Sunflower seeds into the lockers and over the last month the number of scummy lockers never cleaned has more than doubled, because the employees never clean the Sunflowers out of the lockers and the nasty customer continues to soil more and more lockers weekly. Apparently they do very little cleaning on the men's side, because there has also been the same used band-aid in one of the shower stalls for more than 2 weeks. I can vouch for the female employees, I do see them cleaning almost every time I go to Broken Arrow's 10GYM, and I haven't seen the nastiness on the women's side in the lockers or shower stalls. But now, we are being told that the pool and hot tub is closed indefinitely, but estimated at "over 1 month, maybe 2 months" for renovation. Bet they keep charging the more than double charge even though these areas are closed for 1-2 months in September and October! 10GYM...
