The Physicanâs Assistant (not a real doctor) that took care of my son last night has to be the most uncaring, unprofessional woman Iâve ever met. My son went into the ER with an obstruction in his throat after swallowing something out of a can. He was in immense pain and was bleeding in his throat after swallowing even water. After âexamingâ his throat from 10 feet away⊠shining a light in his mouth from that far away and seeing nothing, the PA did order an X-ray but when she couldnât see anything (an hour after the X-ray was taken), she gave him water and was going to send him home! It did not matter that he was still in immense pain and could feel it lodged in his throat. At that point, I commented with the doctor in the room, âIt doesnât matter that youâre in pain, can feel something in your throat and are bleeding. She is going to discharge you because she doesnât give a poopâ. The doctor walked out of the room. A nurse came in to discharge him and another nurse came in to start an IV to give him glucagon. Absolutely no communication between the doctor and pt (my son). My son canât hardly talk due to his pain so I had to be his advocate. âWait, one is discharging and one is starting an iv. Just stop and communicate!â The doctor came in and halted everything and actually put her hand up to shush me. She kept her hand up while she told my son âI do care. After I saw the blood, I believed you. I am going to talk to the surgeon when he gets out of surgery. We only have one. I will explain to him what is going on and hand you off to himâ. Number one: Never shush a ptâs advocate, Ever. Number two: You admitted you didnât believe him until you saw the blood. You were planning to discharge him. You are an uncaring human being and most definitely in the wrong field. Number three: Learn how to communicate. It is simpleâŠ.talk to your patients. When asked why glucagon with someone without blood sugar problems, your answer was âitâs for other thingsâ. Explain it. YOU FAILED.
Now, handing him off to the surgeon who came right down and has us up at the EGD lab was super nice. HE made up for the lack of sensitivity by the cold case ER PA. The EGD revealed a foreign body. The surgeon is the reason for a higher rating than nothing. The EGD nurses need not use acronyms in order to talk about people in front of them. ...
Read moreWhile some staff members were courteous and attentive, others appeared bothered by our requests for information. My husband was admitted with a pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and we were initially informed that it wouldn't require a lengthy stay, with the expectation that he would be discharged the following morning. However, the next day, we waited for the assigned doctor, who explained that an X-ray would be ordered to assess the lung's condition after the chest tube was removed from suction. He stated that after the X-ray, the tube would be removed, followed by another X-ray a few hours later, with discharge anticipated after 6 p.m.
Unfortunately, we did not receive an X-ray until 6 p.m. that evening, when we were told the lung had not yet fully healed. The next morning, we were informed that the same X-ray showed improvement, and the doctor would come to remove the tube. It is now approaching noon, and we still have not received any clear answers or updates regarding my husband's condition.
The lack of transparency in the medical field is concerning. Having previously navigated a cancer diagnosis, we have made the staff aware of our experience, yet we continue to receive unclear and inconsistent answers. Additionally, it raises questions why a surgeon would be assigned to a patient who requires a hospital stay following what is considered a minor procedure, such as tube placement. If the condition is more serious, we believe it is essential to be honest and forthcoming with us. We are not uninformed, and it is evident that we are being misled and held unnecessarily.
In addition to being misled by the staff and receiving unclear information about my husband's condition, the cleanliness of the room is also concerning. There are molded nut shells and other debris in the air conditioning unit, and the bathroom has not been properly cleaned. Housekeeping appears to only remove the trash, as I had to personally wipe down the guest chair due to a spill left by a previous person. It is troubling that patients who have just undergone surgery are placed in such...
Read moreDidnât run any test but an ekg and literally sent me home still in pain with medicine for something they THINK is wrong but says I need a procedure?? Like I will never be back or recommend this place unless you want your esophagus to swell up and them just send and also Dr Cory lambert or I maybe wrong on the last name is lazy and just trying to get people out. Didnât give me anything but an anti acid that didnât help but wants me to have a procedure and be put to sleep when he doesnât even know whatâs wrong. Thereâs definitely a reason itâs called kings slaughter. Iâm at another hospital now that is literally shaken all he gave me was an anti acid and no swallow test or admit me to have it done AND LET A MAN SAY HE WAS GONNA PUT HIS HANDS ON ME because THE SECURITY GUARD DIDNT WANNA DEAL WITH IT BECAUSE HE JUST GOT THERE AND HEARD THE MAN SAY IT. Music blaring. Camera footage of music blaring and the security letting the man say he was gonna put his hands on me. The security let the guy keep talking but cutting me off and couldnât even breathe to diffuse a situation which he didnât because I told another patient who was clearly in pain she needed to go somewhere else. When you walked in the back it was loud music, everyone eating pizza and talking to workers...
