Booked a 2-hour pottery class for me & a girlfriend who'd mentioned she was interested in trying it out...
Zach was our instructor, and although the initial explanation of the process sounded intimidating, he managed to walk us through successfully creating a bowl relatively easily! Centering the clay was a breeze using his suggestions... And although mistakes were made, I found that I was successfully making progress with each try (I was successful on my 3rd try). The time flew (maybe a little clay did, too), there was a lot of camaraderie and good humor, a shocking lack of anxiety (for me) and I even met a couple of new people in the area.
I enjoyed the class so much that I instantly signed up for the EXCEEDINGLY affordable follow-on intro to glazing class, and also the 6-week intro to pottery later this spring. I'm already chomping at the bit to feel the clay in my hands again, It was very therapeutic in its own way. Like a follow-on modality.
And if that wasn't enough, they have the cutest gift/varietal shop, graced by their 2 kitties Merlin and Arthur (yes, you read that correctly). It's filled with pottery, clay and spiritual and healing items, including essential oils. I think it has something that would appeal to just about anyone... And I haven't mentioned the spa upstairs because I wasn't able to get a tour of it the night of my class, but I assure you that I will most definitely get upstairs and get my 'spa' on; And pictures and another review will be forthcoming!
I am so grateful that I stumbled upon this little gem 20-ish mins from my area. I originally thought it was in MA. I'm so happy I reread the town AND state 😊. Every area should have a...
Read moreMy husband and I have been working with Lindsey Bailey on an almost monthly basis for several months now for 90-minute massages. She is phenomenal at what she does - checks in with you before getting started, listens to your body, applies pressure specific to what you like/need that day, and is so smooth/dynamic inducing the best 90 mins of relaxation. She also is just a lovely, gem of a human being. As a life long learner, I appreciate that she's bringing new things in how she heals and works with people (accupressure, hot stones, more to come) all the time.
I'd be remissed to also not mention John. I personally worked with him once during a couples massage and he has a very similar style to Lindsey, and was very good too. The personal connection I had with Lindsey was just simply hard to beat.
Wendy, the owner of Voice of Clay, is also lovely, knowledgeable and offers a whole host of other healing services/mediums, in addition to a clay studio where classes are hosted! We are happy to support a local business having a beautiful impact on...
Read moreI purchased a Groupon with a couple of friends for the BYOB Pottery Wheel class. It was great! Wendy first tells a little about her background, then models the steps of making a bowl on the wheel, then hands over the wheel to you. She helps you as needed. You can make as many bowls as you have time for. Our event was two hours. At the end, you have the option of coming back to paint your bowl(s) a color, or she can paint it white for you and you can pick it up when it has been painted and fired. Our class was a class of 6. It was supposed to be a class of 12. There are 6 wheels there, so we ended up each getting our own wheel. She said that usually people share a wheel, which I think would be frustrating. We really lucked out with 6 people not showing up! I would definitely do it again....
