I love that the prices are so incredibly low, and great for any person's budget esp. mine as a single mom of 2. It almost always has everything I need in stock. I love that it gives you choices of different foods without overwhelming a person like a bigger store can... I can relate since I work at one. Sometimes though there are things I really want that I can't get from there which causes a 2end trip... However it doesn't inconvenience me since I work at a different grocery facility so I pick up those items when I'm at work. The weekends are more crowded, and it can make it hard to move around sometimes. I personally try my best to go earlier in the morning when they open or early afternoon when its less busy. The staff are always friendly to me & get me checked out quickly. For the price I pay for groceries, I certainly don't mind the quarter you use to get a cart... You get it back when you are done shopping. Also, having to bring my own bags in is no big deal... I simply invested a little money in several different types and sizes that are reusable. Otherwise, there are always lots of empty boxes you can use to put your groceries in just in case you forget your bags or don't have any. It's great for short, simple trips or for more lengthy,...
Read moreI've been to Aldi's a few times and the times that I do go I get good service and prices are always decent. Store seems to be pretty clean. Cashiers are friendly. There is absolutely no need for self-checkout lanes for Aldi's because the store is not as big as Cubs foods! To me people that want and support the self-checkout lanes are people who try to get over on prices, believe me I see it all the time when I go to grocery stores and I just shake my head and think to myself how low can people be and get away with paying for an items that's less than a normal price that you would pay for at a Cubs foods. One of the ten commandments is thy shalt not steal keep this thought in your mind if you're one of those individuals who try to scam and get away with buying groceries at the price that is marked. I enjoy going to Aldi's and I will continue to do so. I do miss Cubs foods and the reason why they shut down is because people were always trying to steal this too will happen with all these that people continue to do what they are doing at self-checkout lines. Aldi's needs to stay with cashiers only NOT...
Read moreAldi is a German company, I believe, and its stores seem to have popped up all over the U.S. They have some very good deals on many groceries, though you should look elsewhere for anything out of the ordinary, or for particular brand name items. From what I have seen they have a lot of off brand products - maybe their own house brands.
They offer some fresh vegetables and fruit, though several people have commented to me that you'd better use the produce fast because it seems to turn bad quickly. I've also seen good deals on meat, such as corned beef brisket (less expensive than another lower-priced chain in the Twin Cities).
As part of the cost savings, Aldi keeps its overhead down. Grocery carts are available for a deposit of a quarter (or they were the last time I used one, which is a few years ago). At the end of your shopping, turn the cart in and you get your quarter back. They may have grocery bags but, if so, be prepared to pay for them; it's best to bring your own...
