I love this HEB still and the main reason is because they had the nicest MIC overnights, his name was Doug Volk. Such the social butterfly he was with a smile for everyone even if he was having a bad day or hurting with pain that he did endure post back surgery then a total right knee replacement. He worked hard and even harder with his employees. He never sat down during work b/c Doug didnt like just sitting around doing nothing. He loved his job more than most know. He considered many close enough to chat with during breaks and had an infectious laugh. He is greatly missed by his common law wife, Holly Daniel and her family and friends who likes him more! HEB was like another family instead of people he just worked with. And last, he had a wonderful boss that he really likes amd trusted but one who would go to bat for his employees! He left work early Nov. 6th around 4amish....he texted to let me know he wasn't feeling well but said nothing of bleeding...his color was fine and he was of mind & sound and laid down. A few hours later, I heard a thump thump that I'VE never heard and went to immediately to check on him & he had fallen sideways first then I think it knocked him out b/c I walked into the bathroom entrance & he knew it was bad...I won't go any further however, I got him moved out of the tub and into our bedroom door hallway so EMS & firefighters could get to him quickly. I helped him make it to the ER @ St. Josepsh Hospital & that was ALL I could do bit wait on EMS to get there. At least Zack, I & his mother were able to say to Doug "I love you's" as they wheeled him into the OR to do the endoscopy down his throat to check out where exactly the he was bleeding & to make sure it has stopped in his throat he had to have patched and his stomach/colon, I think. During this endoscopy is when they saw his liver damage was so far gone that his kidneys were starting to shut down. He is greatly missed, even tho it still feels like yesterday. He was an awesome person who left us too early but he didn't suffer. Doug, loved his job, loved working for HEB as well liked working with his night crew, liked and looked up to his boss Tony & only speaking with once or twice during Doug's employment & I see why Doug liked him. To you Dougie, a wonderful experience I had with you and the journeys we had together with our everyday conversations. So, yes this HEB is the...
Read moreOrdered a 4 tier white cake for an open house and was reassured that they would be able to do it. Despite calling to verify the order, on the day of the event, the top of the cake was completely unlevel when we went to pick it up. They realized they put the wrong top layer on the cake and had to bring the designer in to replace it adding hours to our pickup. Then, to add insult to injury, after the cake was fixed, we loaded it in our car and within minutes in transport (going significantly under the speed limit), THE CAKE FELL! Upon calling to complain to the bakery, it was revealed that they had never done a cake this large and failed to use proper supports between the layers. They refused to give us any sort of refund and failed to answer calls after the first confrontation.
We understood we were taking a risk not going with a more established bakery, but when I asked if the cake size would be a problem, they never expressed that they had not done one this large before or that it would be a problem at all. Additionally, the bakery manager should have offered ANY remedy instead of insisting that we were in the wrong. Terrible customer service and terrible experience which, largely, ruined our event... Thanks HEB!
PS, never use the words "wedding cake" at HEB if you just want a simple white cake. They will charge you more and force you to go to special locations. This was not our case, but something we learned in the process....
Read more11/25/2024 It's 4 days before Thanksgiving, I thought I would pick up a few items needed before 5 when most people get off work to avoid the crowd. Was I ever wrong, I think everyone had the same idea 😆 This place was literally packed. I got what I needed. They had plenty of checkout lines open, and I was outta there. I was impressed. They had plenty of staff to accommodate.
Today was the day before Easter, the store totally packed with people, but I found I needed and on sale quickly. The cashier who helped me was so sweet. I might have had a little over 15 items and apologized. He said with a smile, " I think you're good." He checked me out, and I was on my way. It was the first time I've ever actually been in the store because I always do online shopping. It was a very pleasant experience. Thank you again to my cashier. I wish I knew his name.
This particular HEB is ok, not my favorite compared to other HEB's. The store is smaller, carries fewer items, and a lot of times out of stock when ordering online. Due to the fact they don't have a meat market, if you have a desire for thicker types of meat, especially for grilling, events, or holidays, you don't have that option. So, it does make it less desirable than the larger HEB's. They are good about compensating for mistakes made, items not received in your order, poor...
