After going to three Lowes, and 5 other hardware stores to get and part or fix a piece of hardware over 75 years old, they had the perfect remedy. This is why we should never stop listening to our elderly or older generations. They did things with their hands and minds to fix things. I had a stripped faucet from 1947 that I did not want to throw away and had been piecing it back together to its original appearance for the past year. When I was trying to reattach the faucet the under-sink washers/ bolts would not tighten due to the faucet being stripped and would not be tight on the sink. The faucet would wobble on the left side when turning it off and on. A refurbish place in California wanted to charge me $50 for a bolt and $20 for shipping. Ouch! I was tempted. After explaining my situation to an elderly gentleman, he looked at me and laughed a little and said just use painters' tape and be done with it. I was like, ok, seriously!
