I brought in an oil painting with a puncture mark made during the Northridge Earthquake. The painting had been stored for over a decade and was more damaged on the puncture area as the paint was now peeling off the torn canvas. Additionally the painting was hung during the 60’s through to the 80’s and was dull from smoking. I found Melinda on google and she responded to my inquiry Immediately. She was warm, friendly and offered solutions over the phone as well as pricing. I liked what I heard and trusted my instincts and knew she was capable of handeling my heirloom painting. The day I arrived at her clean and efficient studio, I saw multiple projects from metal, oil, ceramic, plaster, wood, and more all being repaired and restored beautifully right their in front of me. My instincts were correct. Melinda was a real professional, skilled and a master at her art. We agreed on what work needed to be done and a timeline. I left excited to finally have my father’s painting made whole again. The work was done in the time promised. When I arrived to pick it up and pay for the service I again saw a whole new lot of repair work in process. I was amazed at many of the damaged art she was restoring perfectly! Incredible workmanship in front of my eyes. My painting too was restored and was so perfect you had to turn the painting around to see the repair as nothing was visible From the painting. The tear, the paint, the colors and the linen fabric matt were perfect. Melinda graciously attached the frame back on and the painting was once again whole except it was even better then before as the colors were vibrant and the smoking discoloring was gone. As a first time visitor to see Melinda, I immediately picked up on one descriptive word that I can use for her and regarding her restoration work and that is how much she- CARES, on what she works on with her abilities to correctly restore and "bring back to life" a work of art in any medium. She truly knows the professional limitation of not going too far with such work so as to not "over work it", but to retain the originality of the art as much as possible while still restoring it as if it is in the original condition when created. I brought in a landscape painting that had hung in my grandfather’s office in the 1930’s and then been imperfectly stored since the 70’s. It was dark, details were muddy, and there was damage around the edges of the panel. Melinda fixed the dinged edges and uncovered colors and details we had no idea existed.
