Never heard of this place till a friend mentioned it. Went there today. The wait to be seated was about 20-30 min—I can see why... it’s not that big inside and they have a 2 or 3 tables outside. While waiting to be seated, though, they had a cool system—they input info on a tablet and text when table is about ready. And it can be done ahead of time through Yelp also.
The wait for the food was longer than average—about 30 min.
The name of the restaurant is based of a method of coffee making in Mexico—so, that was interesting and cute to me 😊 If I remember correctly, the coffee is mad in a clay pot with cinnamon sticks and cane sugar. What tripped me up was the sweetness of the coffee—a bit too sweet for me (I prefer black or barely sweet) but the smell was nice (not overly cinnamon-y). The hubs didn’t like the coffee at all.
I ordered their veggie burrito—eh, not a big deal and nothing exciting. I kept putting salsa and Cholula on the burrito but it was still just kind of plain and boring still. I wouldn’t invest another meal into it and makes me hesitant to go back 😑 Hubs ordered the oatmeal—he said it was good (but can you really go wrong w/ oatmeal?? 😂).
Basically, I don’t see or understand the hype (friend says there’s always a line and seems to be continuously busy whenever she drives by). Would I come back? That’s a tough one... I’d have to see what’s the...
Read moreI took my wife here on a Saturday morning to grab breakfast. I wanted to try this place for a while but never had the chance until now. We came a little after they open so they were not as busy yet. I parked down the street since it's basically street parking here. I checked in with the host and we got seated inside. It's a small place and has only like 10 tables inside so be aware of that because they do get busy. My wife started off with their hot cafe de olla coffee and asking our waiter some questions on their chilaquiles, she went with the chilaquiles divorciados because she was able able to pick the green and red sauce. I got the All In One burrito along with asking for the avocado to be on the side. I was going to order a soda but the price was almost the same as getting a appetizer so I just got water. The staff are very friendly here and attentive to us during our dining experience. Our food took a little while to come out but it was t an issue. My wife beloved her chilaquiles but prefer the red sauce more. I thought my burrito was good as well and it filled me up. I ended up ordering the enchiladas poblanos to go for my mom with white bread and fruits. The best thing here is the coffee has unlimited refill. My mom really loved the enchiladas when she ate it at the house. We will be sure to come back when we have the...
Read moreLess than 10 min drive from Burbank Airport! PARKING There is NO LOT! Street parking only. We parked across the street and walked over. Neighborhood parking can be tough. INSIDE it’s a tiny space. Only 1 table can comfortably seat 5/6. They have other tables where they’ll grab and put a chair at the end of the table but the whole place is so tiny it’s impossible to walk thru without feeling cramped. Plates are huge too so that also takes up a lot of table real estate. Most of the tables were for 2. FOOD French toast- the sweet temptation French toast was good and simple. Fruit was fresh and they gave plenty. I wish the bread itself was thicker tho. Omelette: forgot the name but it was topped w/ two sauces and meats! One side machaca and the other some other beef- totally recommend! It’s a great salty/savory dish. Chilaquilles: the one that came with two sauces was bomb too! Would def order that for lunch or dinner! Green+Light menu: the last page of the menu has healthy and light options. This was particularly helpful for our group! Appreciate that! SERVICE Super friendly and nice staff. At 8am there was no wait. Ppl started piling in right after tho. Come especially early if you’ve got a big group -or don’t come with one at all tbh....
