Good afternoon,
As a longtime supporter and frequent shopper, it saddens me to write this note on a public forum. Moreover, it angers me that the person responsible for these actions is a manager in your employ.
My sister -- and my mother before her -- has shopped at Food Lion for nearly 30 years. For many of those years, it was with 1780 W Webb Ave, Burlington, NC 27215. Both my mother and sister are memorable, not necessarily because of them, but because they almost always shop with my disabled brother in tow, and he is unforgettable. Everyone at the store knows his name, speaks to them, etc. and it has been that way for years.
On Friday, October 11, my sister stopped in to gather the remaining ingredients for dinner. After being in the store for less than 5 minutes, she was approached by a manager whose name is Rick Moore, where he proceeded to ask her where the medication she'd picked up on the medication aisle was -- that he did not see it in her hands or cart. She initially laughed at him because she was confused and thought he was playing a joke on her. When he began raising his voice at her in front of other customers, she realized he was not joking. He said to her, "I have you on camera picking this item up; where is it?". Not only had she not been on the medication aisle that day, she never buys medication at Food Lion because it's far less expensive for her to buy it at Dollar General. You can check her MVP card number to validate this information. Further, when she demanded to see the video, he claimed to see her stealing from, and he refused to do so.
Had this been me, I indeed would have called the police then and there for the harassment and demanded that the video be shown publically. Food Lion should be ashamed to have someone like this in a managerial or any customer-facing role. I would have invited the customers who were starring at me, watching me be a spectacle with their camera phones out to watch the video with me.
Instead, my sister was humiliated and felt incapacitated to do anything but leave. She stopped long enough to ask for the name of the person and the phone number to corporate. She called shortly after returning home. Thus far she has not received a call back...
Read moreWe come here every week for our groceries and I am certainly now a food lion loyalist! The MVP card helps out so much with the discounts if you are shopping here more than one time you need to get one. This store is always clean and the employees are friendly. To me it is the perfect size where it's not overwhelming with options and space, but also not too limited in what they offer. The fresh produce I would rate a 8/10 because it can certainly vary week by week between good and pretty good, but we've never been disappointed. Knowing proper techniques of how to store it in your fridge at home helps immensely with its shelf life. Overall I actually look forward to going to Food Lion every week because I know what to expect with my experience and it's...
Read moreGood store for quick trips when out of a few things at home. This isn’t my regular shopping store, but near home. I returned some chocolate milk because the lid wasn’t sealed properly from the factory or it had been opened and placed back in the cooler. It was leaking on the counter through the bag and the customer service representative was a jerk about it. It had leaked all over my white upholstery in my car, and then in my refrigerator. I was nice about it, and wanted a refund because I was on my way to work. She wasn’t nice, not at all. If you don’t like your job, find...
