I'm feeding 2 adults and 1 teenage boy on a 2 person budget. If you have teens, you know this frequently means feeding even more kids. For a long time this meant no snacks or treats (unless they were homemade, and then they were few and far between). I would often give up for myself to get some little something, and then it seemed like it was gone overnight. Then one night at the only major grocery retailer in my town, a couple passing by told me about Shetler's. I knew about it, but did not know that they accepted SNAP benefits. Now, every month, I make my menus, make my list, and go to Shetler's. I get anything and everything I can there. I'm usually able to get 3/4 or more of my list at 1/2 to 1/4 the price of that major chain "super" store. I ALWAYS leave with things that weren't on my list because not only are they affordable, but I can afford them! Plus, when I get to that "super" store to fill in the rest of my list, if they have a deal or something extra we want, I can now afford to get it, too! As a bonus quite frequently a lot of what they have is organic. The best part of the store is the bulk isle. Absolutely any spice or ingredient I need for baking is there, from oats to flour to celery salt they have it. They even have bulk mixes for things like pie crust and whipped cream. Shetler's has made it possible for me to feed my family better food...
Read moreDriving from Branson, Missouri to Poplar Bluff Missouri on Highway 60 we came through Cabool, Missouri and found Shetlers Cafe. It is a cafe attached to a Mercantile store that has a little of everything. We got there just at the tail end of the lunch buffet. It is all cooked from scratch by the Mennonite owners and was delicious. It had a buffet with a great salad bar, ribs, Fried Chicken, Amish poppy chicken, sweet potatoe casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, and dressing. And also had desert bar with it that had homemade apple cobbler, bread pudding and a couple of other deserts along with homemade frozen yogurt, all for $8.99. The food was outstanding and the people and were very genuine and accommodating. We purchased a bar of blueberry goat cheese which would normally cost around $5.00 in the Phoenix, AZ area for $0.79. I would highly recommend stopping and taking in some good wholesome homemade food at...

This store is discounted drastically compared to every other store for miles and we love it. We dont have much money and now we have more mouths to feed.
I would be giving shelters a 5 star review but one manager doesn't seem to understand the meaning of the ADA.
Periodically, when that certain manager is working, I am told to leave. I have a condition that causes my feet to over sweat. I have to keep my feet dry. Shoes and socks cause my feet to literally rot. I cant wear shoes.
Again I ask you How would you feel if you were refused service because of attributes that were out of your control? I have to choose, feed my family or be...
