Read moreWe moved into the apartment at The Tides of Calabash in Sunset Beach N.C. In April 2018. We needed a place to stay while our home was begin built. Upon moving into the apartment we found urine on the toilet seat. I took a photo of it to show the young lady in the office. She was appalled. She was very apologetic about it. She could not believe it. Today 8 months later she refuses to admit it to her now boss. I thought of her as a friend . I felt we had a good relationship. She invited me to hang out at the pool after hours to swim. Now she lying about me to her boss. She is trying to cover herself, because she didn't ask me to email her that photo for her records. So now she's trying to save face. The new manager is making excuses for things. His favorite answer is " it was before my time here". Instead of saying let me check this out and get back to you. No it's just " it happened before I got here" I think he is young and very inexperienced for the job. We complain to him about the bugs and we would get sprayed once n a while. But to no avail. Bugs were always a problem. I found one in the clock on our stove. I was getting into the shower and found a mom and about 20 roach babies in my tub. Plus they have an issue with mold. The doors, the showers, toilets even your shampoo bottles will mold. I had to keep spraying my Clorox on those areas all the time. I suggested to the staff to have the exterminators start at one end of the complex and spray each building, apartment and move to the next. To move the bugs out. You can do this in one to two days. That way they don't go from one unit to the next. But that too was dismissed. I even reached out to the corporate office with NO support. We did not see or write down the draw strings on the blinds that are missing the little knobs on the end of the string, so now they are charging us for a blind we did NOT break. Our home still isn't finished, so reluctantly we were going to renew our lease. As we were in the office discussing it, we were told our rent will go up an extra $500 a month, " But wait there's more". They were going to give us a discounted rate of only an extra $250 a month up till April then it would go to an extra $700 a month from that point on. I ask why are we costing you that much extra to stay there. We pay our rent on time, we are quite. Haven't caused you any trouble. So why? They said because it's our slow season. STOP! WAIT! It's your slow season so that's why I'm costing you more money. That is CRAZY! So I guess I am paying rent for the bugs and mold as well. My husband and I decided to move. Thank God we did. Our rent is less. We have NO bugs or mold. Our place is BIGGER. I wish we did this first. FYI when your lease runs out at the tides your rent wil go up. Wether it is a long or short term lease. Your rent will go up wether it's $50 or $500 you will pay more to stay there. We were in a time crunch when we rented this place , I pray you take your time and find a better...
Read moreWorst place to live. The apartments are full of bugs, you pay monthly for pest control but have to let them know when you want it done because it is apparently too difficult to keep record of it. Maintenance is less than knowledgeable on some areas. We were without an ice maker the entire time we lived here because they couldn’t seem to figure out the problem, much less call a professional to come and fix it. I have a hard time trusting their management due to being lied to about an issue concerning possible mold in our air vents. We still have no idea if it was mold causing our health issues (and our dog) because they not only failed to test it but lied and said they had and would be getting back to me. Once asked if they were willing to be held responsible they ceased all correspondence. I do not recommend wasting your time and money in a place that will...
