Firstly, there was Mr. Bottomless Pit seated in the cornerβa sight that could rival any competitive eating contest. This guy had a table to himself and was devouring food with such gusto that I half-expected him to start licking his plate clean with his tongue. The amount of food he shoveled into his mouth could have fed a small village for a week. His table was a mountain of discarded napkins and crumpled menus, and I swear I heard a collective gasp from the neighboring tables every time he reached for another serving.
Then there was Ms. Indecisive at the salad bar. She spent a good fifteen minutes examining each leaf of lettuce as if it were a rare gemstone. She picked up a cherry tomato, squinted at it, and then placed it back with a look of profound contemplation. By the time she finally assembled her salad, it resembled a modern art installation more than a meal.
At another table, a group of teenagers were engaged in a heated debate over who could create the tallest Jenga tower out of breadsticks. Crumbs were flying everywhere as they meticulously balanced each stick, occasionally collapsing into fits of laughter that echoed through the entire restaurant.
And let's not forget the couple at the romantic candlelit table near the window. They seemed to be having a lovers' quarrel that was loud enough to rival an opera performance. Every sentence ended with a dramatic gesture and an exasperated sigh. I half-expected them to break into a rendition of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" at any moment.
As for the service, it was a comedy of errors. Our waiter seemed to be auditioning for a slapstick comedy routine, juggling plates and forgetting orders with impressive consistency. At one point, he accidentally poured a glass of water into a gentleman's lap, who promptly stood up with a startled yelp, creating a mini-flood in the middle of the dining room. CHAOS....
Β Β Β Read moreI'm almost afraid to tell y'all how fantastic everything was at Gravy! π€£ OMG we have finally found it. The very best place around!! ππ» I ordered the fried shrimp dinner (the menu says their most popular dish) which to my delight arrived as a huge mountain of delicious shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, lightly battered with a nice crispy texture. Not breaded! Yay! The shrimp had a fresh delicious flavor which is so often missing when ordering shrimp. So many shrimp, I couldn't stop smiling, and couldn't eat but half. The leftovers are going to be a nice lunch tomorrow. Also with your meal, you get to pick two sides!! Yes please! I picked fries which were cooked perfectly, crispy outside and tender inside, and...get this...PEACH COBBLER!!!! Oh, my!! π The best cobbler this southern girl has ever tasted. π€€ And we're not done yet...a basket full of sweet hush puppies with butter. π€πππ» All this for only $17! I'm so blown away. Hubby had the special, country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, π€£ and...PEACH COBBLER!! π€€ Only $12! The steak was crispy-crunchy on the outside and tender. Just the most perfect crunch. πThe steak was delicious as the potatoes and gravy. He was as excited as I was about the cobbler. π Their sweet tea is perfect and our drink glasses were kept full. Excellent service, relaxed atmosphere - obviously all locals. A very clean, and bright atmosphere. This is our new absolute favorite place to eat. We loved it so much we're going back while we're here. Maybe more than once. πππ Please don't go so we won't have to wait in a long line to get in! π€£ If you do go you will see. Oh, my!!...
Β Β Β Read moreJust called to place an order as I always order from here especially on Collard and Mac and cheese Thursday and was greeted by a lady on the phone who could not hear me and was very rude. When she could hear me she completely talked over me while I was placing my order asking about other items that came with the veggie plate. Iβve recently moved to this area and have always received great customer service from Stephanie but today has me taken back and I am not sure if I will continue to order from here anymore. Customer service should always be the utmost best! I understand that help is hard to find and times are very difficult at this time but to treat continuous customers as such is not acceptable. When I arrived a few minutes later I asked another lady at the to go window to repeat my order to ensure my items were correct and I again received lack of respect as if I was being difficult and items could not be repeated back to me. It was a simple task to make sure everything was right. I didnβt asked to be treated as if I was an inconvenience. I really hope this review helps! The place has great food and as mentioned before Iβve always received excellent service...
