Cedar Park Cemetery — Local services in Calumet Township

I always thought visiting a deceased love one at their final resting place would be a calming and relaxing experience. I envisioned sitting under the nearest tree reading book or tablet or napping or maybe even laying a blanket down propping myself up against their standing headstone. Well, this isn’t the case whenever I visit my Granny at this place. I often think what was so great about this cemetery that caused so many of her family members to want to be laid to rest there, which caused my Granny to want to be laid there as well. Every time I visit I get a instant headache driving in the gait where you’re immediately met with a giant pothole, continuing your route to your loved one dodging more potholes, reaching the area where they’re laid and having to walk over unleveled grass/weeds and mounds of dirt. We thought we picked nice clean location for her, but every time we visit there is a another plot disturbed with more dirt mounds. Grass in her location is near nonexistent, weeds have taken over. Apparently they don’t believe in planting grass seeds as the claim. Each headstone that has recently been placed, including my Granny’s, aren’t aligned correctly. Not to mention the stone I picked was not the stone we received. It’s like they just threw the headstones down and kept going. There’s no sitting up against her headstone on a blanket, because two reasons; 1) they don’t allow uprights because of the damn deers; and 2) deer poop is all over the place! I won’t go into how they’ve left one of my great aunts plots after disturbing a near by plot. We’ve voiced numerous complaints to the office, management, and placed work orders and nothings being done. My next post/letter is going to be to IDFPR. Anyone thinking of choosing this cemetery as a final resting place, DON’T!! My mother past in away in Sept 2018. At that time I purchased a headstone. I was advise 6-9 weeks. But I also understand that in the colder months they can not be installed. AT this point it is now almost July and it has NOT been laid. At first (2 months ago) I was advise that the ground was to wet, which is completely understandable considering the rainy season. BUT TODAY!!!!!!!! I was told I need to wait for 40 people to die and be buried before my mothers headstone could be laid, therefore I shouldn't expect anything for another few months.

W H A T ?!?!?!?!?

Not only is there SOOO many things WRONG with telling me to wait for 40 people to DIE but this was NEVER told to me when I paid CASH for the headstone!

Even on the day of the funeral we waited 55 mins for them to prepare a spot. Yet we were threaten with additional fees if were WE did not arrive at the cemetery by a certain time. To make matters worse, roads are horrible and during that time our limo had to leave and my family and I were left to find rides to the repast. We were not give any type of compensation or even an apology. Being in this type of business compassion is EXPECTED. AND Professionalism is REQUIRED. At this point I really wish I would have went else where. Something need to be done to fix this. There was NO DELAY in my payment, seeing that I paid cash. So way so many DELAYS?!?!?!??

Grieving is hard, as I have already lost the most important person in my life and now I can't even make sure she is laid to rest with dignity...

My family, who lives in Chicago and one visiting from Las Vegas went to visit our sisters grave. We wanted to put flowers on it. We went into the office for assistance we were given a plot map with no markers just given a general area of where the grave was located. We still were uable to locate it. We called the office for further assistance and was told someone would assit us in 10 minutes, they never showed up. The area was completely covered in dirt, sod and grass my family began to dig through layers of grass and sod in an effort to uncover the headstone, which is flat and completely hidden. After attempting this with no success we left but my sister stopped back in the office to complain, she was basically dismissed and was told in 30 min someone could possibly help. Are you kidding me! 30 minutes after searching for over 30 minutes already with no success. We paid extra for my sister to be buried on the hill, its a park cemetery with no raised headstones which is suppose to make maintenance much easier. So what is their excuse? The entire area was deplorable and not well maintained and the people in the office seemed less than enthusiastic to assist us. Where was their compassion? No one wants their loved ones grave neglected in this way. We are taking this up with someone who can rectify this situation. We will not rest until her headstone is uncovered and the surrounding area is cleaned up. I will never recommend this cemetery to anyone. They only got one star because zero stars was...
