Victoria Braids — Local services in Calumet Township

I got my hair done here in micros. I wanted shorter hair but they only had 18in. My braids were beautiful and I received many compliments. However I'll be honest. Most braid shops dont listen to their customers and cause hair loss and damage. I've lost hair to braid shops except for one person that did listen and my hair grew from her braids instead and very little loss or thinning. The hair is too long for small sections braids and it weighs it down which causes hair loss. My peak in the front was braided and now I've lost most hair from that braid and you can tell. It makes me so sad to lose hair after paying $220 for it. I'm a licensed hairstylist and I didnt tell them. Listen to your clients please. Stop taking our hair out. Also we all dont want the same thing. I'm not a fan of what everyone wears with this long rapunzel hair. I haven't even taken all my braids out because I'll probably cry. My hair isnt the same because of what these braid shops do. I've learned my lesson for good and wont go back to any of them. *Update: I'm extremely upset! They told me they braided past my hair and they didnt. I've tried to break the glue to take them down but it's not working. I'm going to have to cut my own hair to get them out. I have a bald patch on the upper right side of my hair so far and I've just started to take them down. I have pics to prove what I say. I told them I was scared of my hair coming out because I'm not listened to. I wasn't being dramatic at all and told them the absolute truth about my experience with braid shops. She said dont worry, your hair wont come out. So far she was dead wrong!! Its 2:40am and I cant sleep. I went to Victoria African Hair Braiding against my better judgement. I have only had success with one African braider. The others braided my hair way too tight and I lost edges. I BEGGED (repeatedly) the braider not to braid my edges too tight and to not try to braid my baby hairs into the braids. She asked me if the braids were too tight while braiding the back and they felt ok. When she got to the front of my head she braided those way tighter. When I looked in the mirror, I could see my skin pulling on my edges and they looked crazy because she had braided like 4 or 5 strands of my hair into each braid. My edges are fragile and I could imagine pulling out that whole section of hair taking them down. Plus, too many braids made my hair look like a Barbie doll's hairline. Also I couldn't put my glasses on (my other braider takes that into account). Also, she left a huge chunk of my edges out, not the baby hairs like I asked. I don't think she understood the point of what I was saying. Long story short, I asked her to rebraid it looser and got a huge pushback. She didn't outright refuse, but it took a lot of back and forth. I let her know that my edges would fall out with these braids. She was still saying it was my fault. Ok let me start off by saying I tried to book at new look African braiding heard they had a new owner I use to go there with the old owners but I saw good reviews new owner Veronica so I made a mistake and booked at Victoria but I’m like hey I’ll give them a try… I regret it the short one Victoria is nice but the older one and the kinda heavyset one is nasty as ever jus so rude and I don’t like my hair they both were tag teaming my head and both jus yanking and pulling me the older one literally grabbed my chest and shoulder area so hard and rough like I wasn’t being pulled in two different directions I will never come back here ever again I’m gonna stick to the African shops in Illinois I cnt believe what I experienced today and the nasty older one really got rough when I paid because the heavyset one asked me to pay since they were half way done no wonder y I was in there all them hours they had not a call and barely any clients n then the heavyset lady was finishing my hair coughing on me with her mouth open...
