AMC Center Park 8 — Local services in Calverton

Downside: accessible parking and the bathrooms (but that's all theaters). Upside: Staff! Love them! And the theater is coming up in the world!

The upside: On the upside, the staff is very friendly and always cleaning/working. They're not bored-acting, and they seem genuinely happy to work there and to interact with customers. They made the movie-going experience a great one! The manager was patient and really listened when I talked to her about the accessible parking issue, even though I could tell that she'd heard it all before. She still conveyed a caring attitude, and she never interrupted or acted like the subject annoyed her. The theaters were very clean and contributed to our enjoyment of the movie.

The downside: I have a disability and a placard for parking in accessible spaces. Despite quite a lot of accessible parking at this theater, I can never find parking here, because the spots are always taken by people without placards. I've talked to one of the managers who was very kind and told me that they call the police a lot there to deal with cars that do this. Over the years of patronage, I have seen employee cars in those spaces (though not recently, and I do believe that the message has been given to the employees, and they're not doing this anymore.) When I can't park in an accessible spot, the lot and the sidewalk leading up to the building is full of potholes. The manager said that she would talk to the building owner about that. Not sure how that will go.

They also have a lot of trouble keeping the bathrooms clean there. I think that probably goes for all movie theaters. They did try. I think this is something that all movie theaters struggle with.

Overall, we love this theater, and we drive a long way to go to it. We think it's come a LONG way over the past years, and we're really glad to see it coming...

3/29/19- 6:00pm showing. The movie was great. That was about it.

There was confusion with the ticket-taker as they did not have a scanner to scan my phone as I purchased the tickets through Fandango. The cashier and preparer, refused to prepare the gourmet popcorn as I asked. There are three types of gourmet popcorn. You get your choice of two. I chose the caramel and the spicy popcorn. However I asked for slightly more camera than spicy. She said she would try. I did not understand this reply as it seemed like an easy thing to do. But when she handed me the container of popcorn it was not full. I questioned her. And she said that is the best she could do because of inventory. I said you have to fill it up or you can cancel the order. With an attitude, she filled the container up. Not overflowing, just up to the top. My wife and I look at each other in the amazement and walked away.

The drink machines were not dispensing ice and many of the drinks were out of order or out of product.

This used to be one of the nicer theaters in the area, even though it is old, it always had great service and was always clean. The bathroom was dirty. I can't imagine going...
