Don't get me wrong, this is a great smallish county fair. We live nearby and have been enjoying this fair for 20 years. The price is reasonable for entry as well as for the grandstand events. However, this year the night of destruction on a Thursday went until midnight. You got your money's worth for time but the activities were not the best. The demolition derby was a huge disappointment this year. The cars were already banged up before they started and they only had 4 or 5 heats. There wasn't a good flow so there was at least 10 minutes before the next round of cars were in the ring. They tried to kill a lot of time between heats. Many left due to the down time. The fair itself has decreased every year with the number of vendors. It is still a great place for the 4H group and to get some fair foods without going to the state fair. My kids, 12, 13and 15 said the rides were okay and it was nice to see a few new rides. The new beer garden building is awesome and the beer of course was delicious. The two bands I saw were great and a good size crowd was...
Read moreThe carnival is absolutely asinine! I stood in line for half an hour to get a wristband. When I got there, they told me that I had to stand in a different line at a kiosk to buy a voucher first. So I stood in that line for another 20 minutes, and then got back in the longer line to pick up the wristbands. I waited another 35 minutes to get to the front of that line and gave them my voucher, which they scanned. And then they asked me where my kids are. I told them they were at the other end of the Midway with my wife at the bouncy houses. They told me go get them and come back ?!?! Since the kiosks and wristband table didn't open until 10:00, which is when the wristband promotion started, we paid 50 bucks for a 4-Hour promotion and our kids were only able to use two and a half hours of it. If there had been a single sign anywhere to explain any part of that process I would have blamed myself, but there was nothing. I like the fair, but we'll be going to the Mille Lacs County Fair from now on and will not be coming back to the Isanti...
Read moreFamily Day (Friday) was fun and my young one was excited to win a prize. It was really nice of the local businesses to donate their personal time setting up games and donating prizes so the little ones could have some fun. The police and fire department do a fabulous job of working with the kids and teaching the kids to be safe. Being able to tour the vehicles is great too. The unlimited ride band (from 10-2) pays for itself quickly. My teens especially love it. I really enjoy attending the fair on family day and I have made it a tradition, as we have gone for the last four years. I plan to do it...
