I found Drinkwaters Cambridge, via an online search for the ever elusive (and exclusive) French made, Galibier ‘Super Guide’ hiking / mountaineering boots. I had previously owned and cherished a pair of these incredible, hand made boots, back in my college days, in the mid-70’s, but had lost them, sadly, by being a victim of theft. I have been yearning for replacing them ever since. Through diligence and several online searches, fast forward to my recent encounter with Gary Drinkwater, proprietor of Drinkwaters Cambridge, an exclusive men’s apparel shop, just outside of Boston, who happen to be an exclusive dealer for Galibier, through the Paraboot footwear company, in France. I live in a small city, near the Sierra Nevada Mountains in central California, which is almost 2,600 miles away from the Boston area. From my first contact with Gary and through subsequent emails and telephone conversations - on up to the sale and prompt delivery of my long awaited Galibiers, I’m pleased to say that my experience with Drinkwaters Cambridge, resulted in receiving a level of true professionalism and customer service, that is clearly beyond reproach. I’m also happy to know that my feet have been reunited with a pair of old friends and can’t wait to explore the new adventures waiting for me, up in the high Sierras of California. Thank you Gary, for making an old dream come true and also for a flawless transaction. Happy Trails, from Tom Mason,...
Read moreI don't typically write reviews but feel compelled to try to summarize the great experiences I've had working with Gary and his team over the past several years. In short though, Drinkwater's provides the best customer service, great tailoring, and the highest value menswear in Boston area. This place is the antidote for those of you who might be exhausted trying to shop for clothes online.
A recent example of Gary's second-to-none customer service was related to a Samuelsohn suit purchase I made, and needed quickly for a few events. He did not have the model I wanted in stock and could not get it from the factory. So he helped me scour the web to find another retailer who had the model/fit that I needed. I think he viewed this is as small gesture, but I am greatly appreciative of him helping me through the purchase. His tailor turned around the alterations quickly, and for an OTR suit, it couldn't have fit any better.
I'll be a customer for as long as they're around, which I hope is forever. Support small,...
Read moreI am sharing this Bills Khakis postcard from when I used to receive postcards of the latest sales; much sad these days, sorry for not visiting. Stay well.
I enjoyed the store when I was able to stop in the store and shop for my husband whose taste is not as sophisticated as Drinkwater's, and yet, we've purchased some toiletries and attires over the years; one can't ever have enough deodorant. We're wishing you lots more in the New Year. --take care. This is such a lovely and very expensive store; and yet, I have made small purchases here for my husband for birthdays, anniversaries, and such when in the mood and all of our small purchases have been used right up to the ending bottle if it was toiletries (soaps, after shave, deodorant and such) we've used it all up. My husband that is. I like to get notices of their sales and I am sorry to have not been around of late; I am homebound. Happy New Year to you...
