First and foremost. NO caffine, tobacco, drugs, alcohol, stimulants, etc of ANY kind. Cold turkey when you walk through the door. This may be chemically and physically impossible for some medically and biologically speaking.
Overdosed, was taken to ICU for a few days after emergency room. Was transferred to behavioral unit when stable (regretfully, after a tussle with security and staff while under indluence of alcohol, antidepressants, and sleep aids).
After a few days with the mercy behavioral staff in sioux city, keystone was recommended. Drove two hours to meet with a pushy, overbearing staff member. She apeared to have no patience, sincerity, or apathy for patients' addictions, mental, physical health or well being.
After a brief meeting with her, myself, and a supporting family member, she insisted that i wasted everyone's time. I was told before hand to pack a bag. She then demanded i grab my belongings and check in to the facility or to paraphrase "GTFO and stop wasting our time"
This was a horrible first impression. I understand being upfront and honest but she was downright rude and vulgar. . . Take it as a last...
Read moreI was a client at this facility in 2022, and unfortunately, I still carry residual trauma from my time there. I entered the program at an emotionally vulnerable point in my life, but instead of receiving support and compassion, particularly from the nursing staff, I often felt dismissed and dehumanized. My attempts to communicate were frequently ignored, and during one especially difficult episode, I was confined to a room for 12 hours. Rather than offering comfort, the nurse conducting observations would briefly open the door, glare at me, and then slam it shut. If you're seeking a compassionate, trauma-informed environment, I strongly advise caution. My trauma was not addressed during my stay, in fact, it was exacerbated. Please be mindful when considering this facility, especially if you are in a fragile...
Read moreI was very skeptical about going in to Keystone and really wasn't sure what to expect. In my mind, I had an image of the dreary, depressing treatment centers that you see in the movies. I was so wrong and I am glad for it.
The staff surpassed my expectations. They were all very caring and insightful, but not afraid to call people out on their BS. My life is forever changed for the better after my treatment at Keystone and I can't express my appreciation enough.
As with any treatment facility or program, you get what you put in. If you're there expecting to get validation for your actions, you're probably not going to get what you want. If you are there to address your addiction and to get the tools to get better, you...
