I don't understand the rave reviews. I was excited to bird watch and when I asked at the visitor's center about where to go, the people in the office were dismissive and told me there were no trails around here. I pointed to the map in my hand, found in the lucite container at the bottom of the stairs to the entrance, which had a trail map, and was told only that it was a small trail. I left the visitor's center quickly and walked around aimlessly. Maybe they were having a bad day? What a wasted opportunity and use...

such a charming store with charming people and cute decor (check the bat box near of the register!), tons of guidebooks and field guides, binos and expensive scopes - it’s like a wonderland for birders and has a real festive vibe during migration. there’s also a small trail out back which i didn’t visit and some cute backyard birds and feeders! helpful maps and handouts, too. make this part of your cape may bird...
