I was shocked at the poor customer service we experienced today at Basha's. This store used to be top notch and I always enjoyed shopping there. We arrived about 530pm on a Saturday to the checkout line with about 30 items. Only 2 lanes were open, less than 15 items and one other regular lane. The clerk at the regular lane was trying to checkout someone who paid cash and discovered that her cash draw was gone. She called the manager 4 times with no response. We asked if we should just go to the 15 or less line and response was "well, you have more than 15 items, so probably not. Seriously??? Then she cut down her coworker by saying that she can't handle more than 15 items, so not a good idea. I asked her if she could cancel the cash order and check us out with credit card and then rerun the cash order. She said no. Wow. We were about to walk out when the manager appeared from outside the store with a scowl on her face. She even scowled at us, as if she were annoyed at being bothered on her break. Really nasty look on her face. It took her another almost 10 minutes to get the cash drawer and return. I was in true disbelief. I work in an organization where customer service is #1 priority and if customers are not happy, they leave. This type of behavior by the clerk and the manager is very disappointing. This Basha's won't make it long in this area with this type of customer service. We will not be shopping...

THE PLUS FACTORS The store was remodeled to physically appear more like the company's sister luxury food chain — AJs Fine Food.
The store is very convenient for those live in North Cave Creek, the Carefree Village, or Northern most parts of Scottsdale
THE MINUS FACTORS The parking is inconvenient and crowded.
The food prices are excessive expensive (like AJs).
The produce is outrageously overpriced (like AJs).
The meat department is strictly for "high-rollers" (like AJs).
The store lighting is atrociously dark (like AJs).
Basically, this little, country-style Basha's grocery store was converted and cloned to be like an upscale AJs Fine Foods grocery store in order to appease the wealthy clientele who live in the highly affluent area.
Local grocery shoppers, who are on an average food budget or fixed-income, will need to drive several miles for competitively-priced...

I never thought that I would be reviewing sushi from a grocery store, however, all things change. We could not decide on what to have for dinner Friday, so I took a chance on Basha's Sushi. I picked up 1 spicy California roll, one regular California roll, 1 spicy Tuna roll and one salmon Hawaiian roll. Now your selection is limited and all of it is boxed to-go. All was very good, surprisingly. Ginger, soy sauce and wasabi are packed in the box, if you are at home, toss the soy sauce and use a better brand, otherwise enjoy you meal/snack it good sushi.
I like this grocery store. Since Albertsons left, it's the closest grocery to our home. For a small store they are well stocked and everyone is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. If you are new to this area, be sure to take the time to get familiar with what and where everthing is and take advantage of thier size...
