UPDATE: It has been over a month since I’ve contacted guest services and they have yet to reach back out to my husband & I. PLUS, it’s been brought to my attention that the front desk staff member mentioned, was actually the GENERAL MANAGER!! The general manager of that property is being verbally aggressive/hostile towards guest (UNPROVOKED), and Hilton does absolutely nothing with guest complaints. Just wow!
SHAUN IS EXTREMELY RUDE, ILL MANNERED, PRESUMPTUOUS & UTTERLY DISGUSTING My husband and I are guests at the Hampton Inn Carefree for 4 days now. To begin with, the room's phones & hot water do not work. Throughout our four-day period we had no replacement for our bed sheets & towels. We have to go to the front desk & ask. Which to be honest, we did not make a big fuss about it. They seem a bit understaffed & that is completely understandable. Today after sitting at the breakfast bar for over an hour, I realized that I left my room key upstairs. I walked over to the front desk, where a gentlemen by the name of Shaun was standing, and I explained to him that I left my key in my room & requested a new one. To which he looked at me with disgust in his face and said to me in a rude tone "I need your ID", to which I said " it's in my room" (I mean, no one goes to the breakfast bar with their purse). He said to me, and I quote, "I don't know you, you can be a criminal for all I know". I said "do criminal usually walk into this hotel, sit at the breakfast bar for over an hour & eat breakfast?". My husband overheard the conversation, so he then gets up & approached the front desk & spoke to Shaun. I attempted to express to Shaun that the manner in which he just spoke to me, a guest, was unprofessional & quite frankly UNNECESSARY. HE DISMISSED ME & walked away. He could've cared less. There was 2 other guest standing in the front witnessing all of this. We have been HH Gold members for years and have never had such service. Therefore, we highly encourage you to improve upon your services & front desk...
Read moreThis is our second stay at this hotel and will be our last due to the Manager "A".
I called him because on our first night the bed we booked was listed as a Queen, but felt like a Full size. I explained the situation, and asked if we could get a second room at a discounted rate due to this incorrect information on the booking site. Important to know that this hotel was near empty, so an additional room would still mean additional revenue not a loss. I did not expect anything for free. Just needed my husband and daughter to be able to get some sleep because we were in town for my mother-in-laws funeral.
GM was beyond rude, and just kept saying that I was wrong (I measured the bed just to make sure I'm not crazy and it is a few inches smaller than a classic queen. Not a huge difference, but in my world that means an elbow in the back all night). After a few minutes if him being awful to me, I said that if we weren't busy with funeral planning and caring for my father in-law that we would be relocating immediately. I said that I was going to call Amex to complain, and then retracted to change that I would be calling Hilton for help. He snarkily laughed said "good luck" and hung up the phone.
When we returned from the funeral late in the evening he had locked us out of our room!!! The poor receptionist was mortified. She was lovely and helped us get a new key right away.
This is a clean hotel, in a great location, nice pool, better than expected breakfast, and lovely team except for the General Manager "A" who is the absolute worst. Needless to say we will never be...
Read moreGreat property, stunning location and really affordable. Many Phx/Scottsdale area hotels can be pricey in the winter due to the travel demands of this region and golf tourism etc This place was reasonably priced. The staff that I interacted with were all excellent, helpful, friendly and professional Was upgraded (Diamond) to a balcony room. Larger rooms with microwave and mini fridge Amazing views of the surrounding mountains . The hotel gym was much better than I expected. In looking at the website there were only 2 pics and provided little detail. I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot more equipment available. They had a full rack of dumbbells' (5lbs-75lbs) , a Gym RAX system similiar to TRX) ,Static ropes, plyo box, assault bike , medicine balls , Kettle balls from 5-30lbs, 3 treadmills and 2 ellipticals and the new Peleton ( I understand all Hiltons received one as marketing from Peleton)
Overall this was a great property , a great value and a sleeper gym. The location is peaceful and serene. Its minutes away from Carefree hwy and there are good food choices nearby including a Sprouts market within driving distance .
For guests looking to hike there are trailheads close by , I went to Apache Wash , Cave Creek Regional park & Thunderbird...
