We have purchased many rugs from this business. The inventory is vast & colorful including our favorites turquoise & teal. The craftsmanship is excellent with many pieces having a tapestry-like appearance. Customer service is to "die for" Not the kind that makes you "wanna die". Lastly the prices are practically wholesale on wholesale. And one can even negotiate an even better deal if ya know how to work it right. This is how it works. Go to the internet. Look at the pix, colors, types, etc. Than call the warehouse. Speak to Maria. She will assist in finding what is best for your needs. Do you be afraid of not seeing item in the flesh. We have gotten over two dozen beauties & never been disappointed. Remember, fine rugs are works of art. You don't have to spend a lot of dough to acquire these fine works of art.We have purchased many rugs from this business. The inventory is vast & colorful including our favorites turquoise & teal. Read moreDuring a very long online search, I looked at hundreds and maybe even thousands of wool Kazak and Ersari rugs. Most of them were quite similar: dark color palettes, matching medallions, symmetrical layouts, prominent borders. Although I do love the designs of traditional Kazak and Ersari rugs, I was searching for a more modern interpretation with softer colors.
On the Shahbanu/S&H Rugs website I finally found the rug I fell in love with. It’s a deconstructed Kazak design with an asymmetrical layout. Different sizes and multiple styles of traditional rug medallions are randomly placed (some almost bump into each other!). The border is subtly defined with multiple styles of traditional edge patterns in many shapes and sizes. It’s like my favorite elements from Kazak and Ersari rugs all got together on one rug!
The color palette is soft, so that the quirkiness of the design isn't fully revealed at first glance. The rug medallions and border patterns are in a range of blues, greens, reds, yellows and pinks on a gray field. Every day I see something that delights me, and I feel so lucky to have this uniquely beautiful rug in our home.
Riccardo Scarpis at Shahbanu is terrific--I loved working with someone who is so knowledgeable and excited about their product. Thank you to Riccardo and everyone at Shahbanu, and my forever gratitude and appreciation to the skilled creators who made such...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Shahbanu Rugs on Saturday given the overwhelming positive reviews we read making the drive from NYC. So happy we did!!! To continue the long line of positive reviews, I'm happy to share that the selection of high quality, beautiful hand knotted rugs is unbelievable (literally a warehouse full), the support (Maria and her great team) were so solicitous and patient, giving us their time and showing us beautiful rugs (6 x9) we designated (without any sales pressure whatsoever), separating them and laying them all on the wooden display floor for us to examine. We did purchase a great 6x9 Persian at a very good price! We really recommend making Shahbanu your first stop before purchasing elsewhere. Selection, quality, price and customer service are going to be difficult to beat!
